does it say anything if you lose more water weight than not?
I lost 4 lbs. I have a lot to lose. I assume it's water weight but i don't know. |
Ines here. My pee smells funny and my breath is bad, on and off. I'm keeping it, still, around 50 g of carbs but not much under. I'm going to wait until my keto detector arrives to see how much I have to change. I am having trouble getting enough fiber but am learning a lot (who knew cashews were so much more carby than pecans!) |

I ate out a few times this weekend which helped me get over the “ugh i’m tired of meal prep” hump. Would love any products/recipes that you’ve found and like. The ketoconnect butter chicken I made last week was so easy and good i’m making it again this week. Also, I just made sandwich wraps with Thrive Market Coconut Wraps, ham, lettuce and Bolthouse Farms cilantro avocado dressing. My expectations were low, but they were really good! |

Do any of you have any Keto Bars you like? There are a lot of options online but you have to order them in large quantities, so i’m hesitant. I had some of a Quest bar today which was alright. Aftertaste was a little weird though. |

I'm feeling great. Saturday, I did another 500 calorie day of mostly soup/broth and "keto lemonade" (water, lemon juice and stevia). I felt great, and I think the difference is not working. For mother's day, I made myself these wonderful Keto pancakes (I invented the recipe): Cream cheese, eggs, almond flour, coconut flour, baking powder, lemon juice, stevia I ate them with lemon juice. I did not count the carbs, because it was very important for me to enjoy mothers day. I then bought myself a juicer so I can start to make fresh celery juice. For dinner, my husband grilled up some NY steaks with zucchini and red wine. Again, I did not count the carbs. Today, I am starting for real with carb and protein counting. I had 0 net carbs & 10 g protein for breakfast (coffee with keto mix). I had 4 net carbs & 25 g protein for lunch (Atkins chicken/broccoli Alfredo frozen meal). I had a health warrior snack with 9 net carbs and 3 g protein. I will have kale for dinner (6 carbs, 0 protein). That will total 19g carbs and 38g protein. Today is my low-cal today. Tomorrow, I will have 2 eggs (12 g protein) with 2 slices swiss cheese (16 g protein), zucchini (1) and 3 oz smoked salmon (16 g protein) cooked in avocado oil for breakfast and coffee with butter. That will be 10 g carbs and 44 g protein. I will have my coffee with keto mix (10 g protein) for lunch. I will need to keep my dinner under 10 g carbs and under 25 g protein. My aim is under 20 grams carbs and under 80 grams protein for most days this week. This week will be tougher than last week, but I have decided that I will be "carb cycling", so this Friday, I will be enjoying sweet potatoes. I am still not seeing a weight loss, but my pants are significantly looser. |
My suggestion of you want to try carb cycling is to pick something that has high fiber and try to stay under 80 carbs. |

What is high fiber? I would like my "carb" day to be fruits/vegetables that I am otherwise missing on Keto, so either sweet potatoes or squashes (pumpkin, spaghetti, etc), or certain fruits (apples, pears, plums) that I am not getting. I'm trying to "up" my carbs so that my body can handle keto on a longer term and that it is more sustainable for me. Ines here. On a similar note, It's easy for me to not meet my fat requirements (I'm falling short by a lot) but also easy to go over my protein requirements. I'm hoping they balance each other out... anyone know? |
NP here (call me Sia). I've been on keto for the last 6 months. Occasionally, I was able to stay in ketosis eating about 100 gcarbs - I mean total carbs. But I seldom eat that much, usually it's under 50 g total. However, I came to realization that I should not have 'carb days' or cheat days - only cheat MEALS. Because it was easy to stray from keto after cheat days. |
Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. The goal for protein is to eat "adequate amounts" because if you eat more than your body needs it turns it into glucose which may affect ketosis. |
Ultimately it comes down to calories. Are you eating fewer calories than your body needs? Then you will lose weight. Don’t worry too much whether you are in ketosis or not. |
Isabel here. I also fell off the wagon. Had a planned high carb day on Saturday which went fine (I know it takes you out of ketosis- I’m carb cycling), but that plus a stressful Monday morning triggered cravings that I couldn’t resist. Taking a sick day to reset. |
