Keto: Thread for Group Starting 6 May

I had for breakfast: 4 eggs and some cheese. Drinking lots of water. Took a probiotic. Am at 215 and really feel like I need to take control after all the weight that has piled on (I'm 6'1'' but still a size 16 and a bit mortified).

Trying to up sleep and some light exercise as well as I have grown sedentary.

OP again. I am a fruit and veggie fiend and am not sure what I think about having to REDUCE veggies for health

(and no haters, please- I'm committed to at least trying this for a couple months to see if it works for me).

I'm starting low carb (keto adjacent) diet today, so I'll follow along. I skipped breakfast, and for lunch I having lightly fried tofu on a kale and cabbage salad, and a hard boiled egg. In a bit I'll have almond butter on celery. Dinner is always veggie salad with nuts ... but then dessert.

I am also a size 16 and realize I need to reduce the amount of sugar I consume. I'm not convinced of keto as a good choice for me (yet?) but I'm reading some books and websites about keto. I've lost weight in the past and kept it off, but only by doing a massive amount of cardio which I no longer have time for.

I technically started last week on May 1st but count me in. On day 6 and think I have lost a little water weight but I am having a hard time keeping my macros in balance. I feel good for the most part though. Have about 25 lbs to lose - just had a baby 2 months ago.

I'm here too. Lost about 15 pounds in a month on Keto last fall and then abandoned ship. 5'5, 185 (ouch) and back at it today.
Breakfast: 2 hard boiled egg, 1 sausage patty
Lunch: Large salad with hard boiled eggs, broccoli, cucumbers, peppers, grilled chicken and EVOO with herbs.

I just went to the vending machine and longingly stared at everything and realized that crap is why I'm fat, got myself a big glass of water and came here to distract myself.

Dinner is chicken thighs with roasted veg. For me, it's the weekends/wine. But I'm going to get there. I just am.

I just started today too!

Breakfast was coffee with keto chocolate mix. It has MCT which is supposed to jump start.

Lunch = chicken and broccoli

Dinner ? Maybe chia seeds with heavy cream

Dessert will be strawberries.

I'm ending up eating more vegetables on Keto than before and they taste better too.

1. Roasted cauliflower with olive oil, paprika and parmesan cheese
2. Spinach sautéed in coconut oil with salt
3. Spicy chipotle chicken with guacamole on big bed of lettuce
4. Avocados
5. Spinach, bacon, mozzarella omelet

why are you reducing veggies? you can have non starchy vaggies on keto

Realized I forgot to post a few things...

Breakfast: 2-3 eggs over easy cooked in butter and half an avocado with Trader Joe’s everything seasoning, also had an iced coffee with heavy cream

Lunch: salad greens and red cabbage with grilled chicken and 1oz of shredded Parmesan cheese

Dinner: rotisserie chicken breast and roasted asparagus with olive oil

I am 5’6” and started at 160 and have lost around 4lbs in 6 days. Goal is 135 which is exactly where I was pre-pregnancy.

Well, I had asparagus with ghee and nutritional yeast and a handful of pistachios for lunch. The asparagus was 8 carbs alone and all together it was 16 carbs.

Breakfast- coffee black

I’ve been eating Keto since January. Down 25 lbs but I just had a binge weekend and now I feel terrible! Ready to get back on track.

Breakfast: americano with heavy cream
Lunch: romaine salad with bacon, avocado, and a scoop of chicken salad
Snack: cheese stick, handful pork rinds
Dinner: romaine with grilled steak, guacamole, sour cream, cheese

This was me! I'll go by Lego (obviously not my real name but my son's favorite toy and since my extra 20+ pounds were all a result of my pregnancy, I think it's a good name).

I forgot to add that my chicken and broccoli had an Alfredo sauce.

I'm doing a variant of keto with IF 5:2 so I'm going to try to eat under 500-600 calories two days a week (today) with keto and then going to not calorie watch 5 days a week, also with keto. Today was a low calorie day and I'm 0.5 pounds lighter tonight on my scale. Knowing I was doing this, I ate a lot of kale last night.

I'm also going to allow some non-keto veggies (like a few shredded carrots in my salads) and fruit (like one medium apple per day) so I'm not going to be a purist but I will keep my carbs under 20g on some days and under 40g all days. And I've decided that I'll do a clear-liquid fast to go back to keto after any days that I can't do it (I have a friend's wedding next month).

I would love a way to make this avocado cheesecake keto-friendly:

Is everyone counting macros or just sticking to approved foods? I am using Carb Manager which I like, but think I am eating too much protein. Not sure if that matters.
