If you were really a horrible mother, OP, you wouldn't feel bad about yelling. A horrible mother would continue to yell. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Anonymous wrote:OP here: I'm intrigued by Power Yoga. Is it a cardio work out? Anyone know of any places in Arlington? I'm also curious about the person who recommended Zumba. I've heard it can be tough on the knees . . . no?

Zumba can be hard on the knees if you wear the wrong shoes and don't stretch enough. The people who have knee problems in my class just replace the jumpy moves with a modification.
Big cyber hugs to you, OP. I'm relieved to see you posted after you signed off. There is a lot of good advice and love on this board (well, on your thread anyway), and I pray that you find something positive to focus on tomorrow. Even something small, like a flower in your garden, or the sunny sky, or your DC's face, an uplifting song, or your favorite meal.

You don't like your job. Why not turn your focus to changing your job? Spending day after day doing work that is meaningless to you means you need to do something else! I'd quit my job before I quit being a mom.

My best friend's sister killed herself and her son. My best friend has not talked to me or any of our mutual friends since it happened, because she is too depressed to do anything but work and come home and that was nearly 7 years ago. The pain has rippled out to everyone who knows her and nothing positive has come out of it. No one is better off. Please don't do that to your loved ones.

Please update us tomorrow, OP. I'm praying for you and will be thinking about you. Hugs, again.

LOTR Trilogy (i have read these books several times at different stages in my life and I always take away something new and meaningful with each read)

I love that book! It's up there with Daughter of Fortune, Ines of My Soul and Island Beneath the Sea.
My grandmother says "bich" instead of "beach." She'd say to us when we were kids, "Ok, who wants to go to the bich?"
reminds me of a Jackson Pollock painting
Looking down on people for where they live is rather narrow minded no matter what state you live in.
yes, I lost the first 35 with home videos.
I like Ryka studio sneakers. I used to have Nike O'shox made for dancing but the Rykas have a little more cushioning in the sole. But a lot of instructors have Nike Musiques or Vida Fitness sneakers. The best ones for your feet, however, are Bloch Boost sneakers...although they are not as cute as the Rykas or Nikes, unfortunately.

A circular or curved tread is what's important for turning and pivoting, so look for that in addition to cushion and support. Shoes made for tennis also have the same kind of tread that dance sneakers do, so that is another option.
My married gay friends don't undermine my marriage one bit. They are not so different from hetero couples in my eyes. They are two consenting adults who fell in love and are committed to each other for life, just as DH and I are. They are parents trying to raise a family in a warm, nurturing, healthy environment, just as DH and I are. They work, pay taxes, live responsibly and peacefully just as we do, so I think they deserve the same legal benefits of marriage that we do.

Man and woman, woman and woman, man and man...as long as it is a union between two consenting adults, it doesn't matter to me what gender they are.

Some instructors use punch cards, but there is no universal punch card that can be used at all Zumba classes. One instructor might teach at a gym that only offers Zumba to its members, and one might teach at a dance studio that offers punch cards or drop in options. Every facility is set up different.

If you prefer a punch card, look for classes at dance studios and community centers. Most gyms don't use punch cards, but some let you drop in without becoming a member. I believe Bally's does.
Awww...how nice to be missed! And, ugh, yes, that was me in the Express. I wish someone had told me there were going to be photographers that day. I would've done my hair.
Hey mamas, I'm still here. : ) No willpower...I have not broken my DCUM habit, but am not in front of the computer all day anymore and am lazy about signing in on my phone. All is well though. Still shakin my tail feathers.
