Do you think you can get in shape with workout videos at home?

I have not worked out since I had my son 18 months ago - at all. I used to do cardio and weight training at gym plus yoga. I'm thinking that a good way to get back into it might be to do a variety of yoga, pilates, cardio dvds (probably streaming from netflix or the library). But do you think that's a waste of time? I've never done many of those and wonder if they are too easy? I guess just trying it will tell me, but I'm curious if anyone thinks they got in decent shape with workout dvds at home. We just bought a home and do not have the money for a gym right now.

THanks!

Indeed you can. I was totally skeptical until the P90X workout. The Jillian Michaels "Ripped in 30" is good too.

Be aware that once you hit your thirties, diet is more important.

My sister (35) is totally in shape and toned from doing just home workout videos. I think she does a mix of pilates, cardio, and some weights DVDs.

I'm a believer.. I lost 28 pounds - I'd say diet kicked off the post preggo weight loss but when I got near 15 lbs from ideal (I'm within 3 lbs- I'm also petite so this makes a huge difference) I saw a lot of flab and started working out with dvds.. I have had comments not only on my weight loss but on how i'm toned (it was obvious i gained a lot and it remained during pregnancies but now it's also apparent i'm pretty toned).. ALL dvds.. I did mix it up a bit- from slow reps to fast training, cardio mix - just try to mix it up.. I started off with Jillian's 30 day and ripped but now I prefer Jillian for her killer cardio dvds and her abs one is mix cardio abs- but I'm a Jackie Warner fan (her last two dvds for total workout).. and i do the slow rep high weight stuff- all at home.. Funny since I've had a few close friends kind of surprised that at home could work..

i did the "ripped in 30" video, got the reccomendations from here. it really worked! I was totally out of shape and couldnt even get through the whole (short) workout for the first week. I didnt even end up doing it everyday, and it still made a very noticeable difference. very impressed!
