I know how popular the name threads are so I figured this would be a good place to solicit names for our new kitten...
It's long-haired, mostly black but with a few white patches. We have one cat named Elmo, in case someone can think of a good one that goes along with that one. Totally not necessary though. We like creative, fun and even silly names. Please no cutsie names like Fluffy. Thanks! |
Male or female? Personality?
|
Chairman Meow. |
If it's a female you could call her Miss Kitty Fantastico! |
Dorothy |
Dinah or meow, meow.

OP - anything goes with a pet! |
I had a dog (best dog ever) growing up, named Tillie that had nothing to do with Tilly from Sesame Street. You could keep the SS names going and do something like that. We have 3 cats all named after places we like to visit. |
OP here -- forgot to mention, it's a girl kitty. So far I like Chairman Meow ![]() Keep those rec's coming! Thanks! |
Pick your favorite book series. The science fiction/fantasy genre has all sorts of opportunities. for example the dragon names Anne McCaffery's Dragonriders series. One of our cats is named after one of the moor cats in the Terry Brooks Shannara series.
One cat breeder named their cats after spirits and mixed drinks; "Gin and Tonic" aka Ginny; Skyy, Rumpleminze, "Absolut" aka Abby, you get the idea... |
Abby Cadabby is another character on Sesame Street... you could go with Abby. |
I always thought it'd be funny to name a pet "Havoc", y'know, like "wreak havoc"? |
Just please not Molly. That's my daughter's name and everyone and their uncle feels the need to comment that they, their neighbor or their grandmother once had a cat named Molly. ![]() |
Hooty McBoobity, from the Simpsons. |
We let our 3yo name our cat. He chose a name from a book he loves. I say let the kids name it! |
