Ask the recipient who they bank through. Typically, there is a branch available in the US and you can ACH direct to them and is a much cheaper cost of sending the money to the Japan branch, and often better exchange rates.

This is terrible advice.

It's literally what Dave Ramsey did! Now he tells everyone to bootstrap! I've always suspected this snake-oil salesman is only popular because he's secretly astroturfed by finance industry who don't want everyone declaring bankruptcy and wiping out their predatory debt.

I don’t think you are truly capturing his message... very much against loans and pushes for debt free, cash only.

OP,
Because your credit score is in the dumps already... food, shelter, utilities, transportation, in that order. You are in survival mode.

To heck with the cc’s, let them send nasty letters. It’s unsecured debt. Wait them out and then settle on nickels to dollars. Same with the collections.

Take care of your primary needs and sock away some cash for future settlements with cc’s and collectors, but 1st get you an emergency fund established.

If you’re paying a huge car debt, get rid of it and get a “beater” till you’re back on you’re feet.

Start listening to Uncle Dave’s podcasts.

Good luck! You can do it!

I have read both the Obesity Code and the Diabetes Code, and they make sense to me. I do the 16/8 pattern of eating with a weekly 24-hour fast. The weight is slowly coming off and my HA1c readings are getting better. I don't think I'd want to do the longer fasts that Dr. Fung espouses, though.

The shorter vs. longer fasts have the same benefits for health, it just takes longer to realize the results.
Anonymous wrote:I would add that adding IF to other dietary changes made the difference in bringing my DH’s blood sugar levels from diabetic to normal. Full stop, normal. With no medications.

The diabetic level blood sugar readings were a shock to us last spring, he was overweight but not obese and actually quite athletic, but with a vicious sweet tooth. His doctors wanted him to go on medication but diabetes is usually a progressive desease where the medications do not really treat the cause. I did a lot of reading including Jason Fung and the Diabetes Code and we reduced the amount of highly processed foods in our diet, cut the breads and sugars and he does 2 24 hour (dinner to dinner) fasts a week.

He has kept off about 25 pounds and his blood sugars readings have been completely normal. He has not counted calories at all.

Awesome! Congratulations!

Trying to get my DW to follow this, just recently diagnosed with diabetes. She has got to be one of the most unhealthy, healthy person I’ve ever met.
Simple suggestion...

Eat only non processed foods. Vegetables that grow above ground, except carrots and onions are good ones to keep, in moderation.

Add half an avocado to your salads, they contain healthy fat and will help satiate your appetite, along with other benefits.

Proteins, such as good cuts of meats i.e. chicken, beef, fish, turkey. Salmon is a nice treat once a week.

If you have the discipline, avoid snacking between meals.

Black coffee and tea are your friend, unlimited. Best to drink as much water as you can, lack of water is often cause of false hunger pangs.

If you can slip in a minimum of 3 exercises a week will help much.

Target 7-8 hours of sleep per day, helps greatly!

Good luck!
Fire TV.

Search YouTube for Kodi and APK instructions.
If not already, he needs to cut down carbs to less than 25g a day.

If fasting that hard, he needs to stick with it. 1 week fast every 4 weeks will keep his body in turmoil, it usually takes 1-2 weeks for your body to transition, you will get those symptoms.

Or... move to more frequent, reduced fasting, like 16/8.

Add magnesium and potassium supplements, it will reduce or eliminate dizziness and fatigue.

To satiate hunger, he needs to increase fat. Use olive oil, fatty cuts of meat, avocados, etc.
DW and I joke about me being selectively social.

After being “on” at work, I definitely enjoy spending time with just the DW and DCs during my off time.
Rub their happy spot?
Google Dave Ramsey and listen to his advices regarding inheritances, taxes, rollovers.

He also has trusted advisors in your area listed on his web site, might be a good choice in this case.
Reduce carbs, they’re still a bit high.
Possible to tighten the belt and save cash over the next few months? Plan the project in phases.

That would help avoid giving money to the big bank and contractors may be hungry, cheaper during the winter months.
You’re paying almost $2,333.33 per month in interest on $700k.

Not giving that to the big bank every month would make me feel better. I’d definitely pay that down as much, as quick as I could.

My vote... keep 6 months emergency funds and put the rest towards the mortgage.
