Thinking of getting rid of cable... however, both my tv's are not "smart" tv's - which is easier, more user friendly and better? The Roku or the Fire TV stick with Alexa voice remote?
I have both Amazon Prime video and netflix .. Any recommendations?? thanks! |
Fire TV.
Search YouTube for Kodi and APK instructions. |
Well, I LOVE my Roku. I've only compared it to Chromecast, which sucked. It's very easy to use. Everything syncs up just like it should, and I just point the remote and press a button. |
I haven't tried the fire stick, so I can't speak to that, but we have a smart tv downstairs and a Roku upstairs. The Roku has far less problems than the smart tv. |
Love the fire stick. As long as you have HDMI connection and reliable wifi/internet you should be good. I bought a flat digital antenna and pick up about 20-25 broadcast channels. Just subscribed to Hulu at 99 cents/month, thanks to another poster for the heads up, combined with prime and a Netflix account I couldn't be happier! |
OP here - thanks all!
Sounds like I need HDMI connection on my TV to use the ROKU, is that right? One of my TV's is older flat screen and I don't believe it has HDMI connectivity, would I still be able to use the Roku? |
I have both and much prefer my Roku. I hate the Fire interface. |
I'm not sure if theres an adapter for that, but yes you would need an hdmi port.
In my case the cheapest and easiest solution was buying new wireless lan bluetooth dvd players (I don't have smart tvs). The dvd players connect to my wireless headphones which is perfect for when I run. I stream everything through the dvd player. So easy. |
