In a pinch all you need to do is put the clean diaper under the child prior to taking off the old diaper so that their skin isn't in contact with the changing table.

We travelled during my second trimester (in December) to Cancun. OB wasn't concerned about my going at all. I would agree with one of the PP to make sure to drink bottled water or boiled (same for brushing teeth), and make sure to eat (as you would here) only cooked foods. ie: no undercooked meats if you're not a vegetarian.

We stayed at the Ritz (didn't eat anywhere else either) and I came back with a case of what my GP called "Travelers Diarrhea". Yeah, not so nice! Not sure if it was from ice in my drinks or salad or what exactly.

Have a fantastic trip!
It could be eczema or it could be Rosacea - I would check with your pediatrician.
My pregnancy with DD (who just turned 2) I spotted around 5 or so weeks. Implantation bleeding - brown blood. No other bleeding during that pregnancy. My current pregnancy (I'm currently 26.5 weeks pregnant) I "spotted" around 6 or 7 weeks and I honestly thought I had miscarried. There was enough red blood that I thought my period had started. I went home and laid down for the rest of the evening (it was a Sunday) and went to the OB the next day. Did a emergency ultrasound and everything was okay, phew! Then at 16 weeks (2.5 weeks after receiving a cerclage) I started to spot again - red blood. Due to my cerclage it wasn't due to sex (not allowed when you have a cerclage) and they didn't know why I was spotting. Continued to spot off and on for about a week - and even the OB specialist at GW couldn't give me a definitive reason as to why. I suppose the good thing was that they weren't concerned (I was freaking out though). Fortunately I haven't had anymore spotting since week 17 (knock on wood) and all is going well with my pregnancy.

I'll hope good things for you, but it can be competely "normal" to spot during pregnancy. I would just check in with your OB tomorrow and ask to have a sono to make sure that everything is going well.

Best wishes!

I agree with some of the PP's, don't beat yourself up over not BFing. I BF DD (she just turned 2) and am expecting DS in May. I BF until she was 6 months old (wished I'd done it longer but was awful about pumping while at work) and let me tell you, people thought I made it look easy and it wasn't! The first two weeks were AWFUL, and I think I have a decent threshold for pain and good God it was worse than child birth if you ask me. After the first two weeks we got it down (split nipple healed) and it was smooth sailing. Then came time for her to take a bottle vs. boob (and she had been taking a bottle occassionaly) - yeah that was horrendous for DH and me to listen to her cry and want the boob. Eventually the nanny had to get her on the bottle but it wasn't fun for any of us envolved. So the moral of the story is do what works for you and your family, and don't feel guilty.
My DH calls me the "Booger Hunter". DD HATES when I head towards her nose but it drives me crazy when she has "bats in the cave". I do all of the above and also found something at buy buy Baby and Babies R Us called "Boogie Wipes". It seemed like a total marketing gimmick, but they do seem to work better than tissue or wipes. They're saline wipes and are really wet which seems to help with some of the boogies.
I wanted to know if anyone knew what the dues were at Overlee Pool in Arlington. I checked out their website and saw what the wait list application fee is, as well as the non-refundable initiation fee but no where (that I can see) does it say what their annual dues are/were for 2008.

I'd also like to know an approximate length that one would be on the wait list before becoming a full member vs. just an August member.

Any info would be greatly appreciated since I e-mailed them over a week ago and haven't received a response.

Thanks!

DD is 9 months old and we currently participate in a nanny share M-F. Not sure when we should start (or if we need to, but agree that socializing is good) pre-school or montessorri school. I feel like I am submitting college apps but don't want to wait too long either. Also, any suggestions for preferred places in N. Arlington (we live near Marymount Univ.).

Many thanks!

We have the Quinny Buzz and DD is 9 mo and a little over 18lbs. Friends have a 14 mo old and he's about the same size as your "little" one, don't think they've had a problem though but will double check. Have you moved the strap to one of the upper levels? There are 3 levels and DD is in the middle one - it's the snap thingy up top.

Other than that I would chek with the manufacturer.

Best of luck!

DD is 9 months old today and as I was driving I passed a preschool and it hit me...oh, crap when do (or do we) need to go to pre-school or montessorri? I live in N. Arlington and really don't have a clue as to when/what schools would be well suited for development of DD. Currently we participate in a nanny share M-F and although it's great I do want DD to have more of a social set too.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

before DD (who's almost 9 months) starts chewing on the railing. I would like to be proactive so that the crib isn't ruined, maybe I'm being unrealistic though. ha!

I looked online at some products but would like some opinions from everyone here. Also, I would like a product that won't ruin the railing when I go to take it off later on down the road. Some of the products I've read about people claim that it peeled the paint. Although ours doesn't have paint I don't want it to ruin the finish/stain.

Many thanks!
Thanks everyone. Now I just need to remember to take the stuff...what can I take to remember to take the Fenugreek. ;o)
I bought the supplements (capsule form) yesterday from Whole Foods, how much should I take and how long until I will see an increase in my milk production?

BTW, it says 2 pills 2 to 3 times a day. My milk supply is down for a few reasons:

- Menstral cycle (2nd one since DD was born; she's now 6 months old)
- Started a weight loss program, but am following it based upon nursing mothers
- Stress
- DD is now eating 2 meals a day (has been for a few weeks)
- Probably am not drinking enough water

Thanks!

I agree. We've used this product before and it works like a charm. I would make sure that if you have pets and or small children that you wait until the yard is completely dry (maybe even a day or two if that would make you feel better) before letting them in the grass.
Okay I'm totally jealous of one of the PP's that lives near a Wegman's. LOVE that place. It's like a Whole Foods on steriods.

Question for the other PP about Polyface Farms. Approximately how much do you pay per pound for chicken & beef? Do you know what the rates are for delivered items? Sounds like a good alternative and if delivered hassle free.

IMHO Whole Foods is a great store. Some of the products are more expensive but oddly enough some are not. I can purchase baby food for far less than I can at Safeway for the same food even. Not to mention cereal (Puffins) and other items. Their meat selection and vegetable selections (and freshness) is far better and the food tastes a heck of a lot better than the crap I can get from Giant most of the time. I should say that I don't shop at Whole Foods as often as I do Safeway (Safeway is about 2 miles closer than WF) but it's a good store, little crowded at times but a great store none the less.
