I wanted to know if anyone knew what the dues were at Overlee Pool in Arlington. I checked out their website and saw what the wait list application fee is, as well as the non-refundable initiation fee but no where (that I can see) does it say what their annual dues are/were for 2008.
I'd also like to know an approximate length that one would be on the wait list before becoming a full member vs. just an August member. Any info would be greatly appreciated since I e-mailed them over a week ago and haven't received a response. Thanks! Christina |

I can't remember for sure but I believe your dues amount depends on what type of membership you have - so if you don't have kids it might be slightly cheaper, etc. I just checked our records and we paid $600 this year and that's for a family.
They have changed how they've handled membership admission over the past several years. When we got on the waitlist back in 2001 we were in the mid-400s and we finally got off the waitlist after 4 years. However I think they then worked through their entire waitlist and then tried different ways to have members join (other than keeping a traditional waitlist) like having people submit their application on a particular day and taking people in order of application submission. So I'm not sure if the waitlist is as long as it used to be and if it would take that long to actually get in. I'm not sure if there is a wait for an August pass. Normally the person who handles the application process is really responsive so you might try following up again after the holidays and maybe they can provide more information about estimated wait time, etc. We've had a good experience and hopefully you will too!

| We live just a few blocks from Overlee but opted to buy an annual pool pass at Upton Hill Regional Park over on Wilson Blvd. We both work and so, practically, the weekend's the only time we'd use the pool and we were definitely discouraged by the waitlist etc. Upton Hill is a great facility and a hell of a lot cheaper. We pay $160 for a parent and child. The other one of us only occasionally swims so we just buy a daypass in those cases. |
