Nope, but my ped told me to use Triple Paste if I needed any ointment and it's fantastic. I've only had to use it a couple of times (knock on wood) but I like it a lot!!!
To the 15:03 poster - yes, it's the Poly Visol and the ped told us to give it to her since I was BFing...and she knew about the 1oz of formula.

To the 15:21 poster - ARG!!!! That's what I was afraid of, an all out battle with the bottle. I even went to Buy Buy today and bought two other types of bottles, (yes, in sheer desperation to please my husband and have a little down time). How long did it take until your baby (and friends babies) would take the bottle?

Thanks a lot!
We were using the same bottle and after a lot of fussing on her part (husbands too) we've tried two other types of bottles...same result. Could it be the flow? Husband is upset that he can't feed her. Not sure who's more upset, DD or spouse. Sigh!!!!
DD is 6.5 weeks old. Long story short, I am BF DD my husband and I have also been giving her a bottle each evening (1oz of formula). She previously would get a bottle of breast milk from my husband around 7 or 8 pm so he could feed her. Well about 2 weeks ago she started to really fuss when getting a bottle. She now pretty much refuses to take a bottle from either my husband or me (I know that moms shouldn't be giving a bottle when BF), it makes no difference if it's breast milk or the 1oz of formula. I just don't understand what on earth is going on...the only possible "culprit" I can think of is that a few weeks ago we started to give her the vitamins (liquid) mixed in her formula before nursing for the last time before bedtime. Any insight or helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated. We would like her to be able to take a bottle again as my MIL would love to feed her/care for her occasionally. Not to mention if my husband and I want to go away we need her to take a bottle. HELP!
Years ago I worked as an ABA therapist and for the parents it's expensive and requires a lot of time and attention. They require that a parent be present (just in the home) during the sessions, which are about 30+ hours a week for a child. Monthly sessions are then conducted with the child, therapists and parents once a month to go over what the child has learn and discuss any progress/issues etc...

It's very intense but I believe very effective. If you would like any more information (I'm not sure how much help I would be...) I would be happy to speak to you. I can be reached via e-mail at wetnoz2003@yahoo.com

Best,

You may want to buy the extenders for your bras. I am using the Medela nursing bras (delivered 2 weeks ago yesterday) and the ones that I found are the most comfortable are these - http://www.amazon.com/Medela-Comfort-Maternity-Nursing-Bra/dp/B0008MFDEI you can purchase them in the store at Buy Buy Baby and the nice thing about purchasing them now is you may not want to venture out after your baby is born. The other nice thing about this bra is that once your milk comes in they will still fit since it's not an actual cup. Sadly I've found that the bras with the cup aren't as comfortable and I'm a DD and I still recommend this bra. If you do go to Buy Buy to purchase them try them on as they do not allow returns on bras.

Best wishes!
In the beginning nursing can be very awkward (it was for me - and painful); I delivered two weeks ago yesterday. I would recommend getting a "Hooter Hider" http://www.bebeaulait.com/ they sell these at Buy Buy Baby as well as online. I would also recommend getting a couple of nursing tops for afterwards. I wore the tight maternity tops and post pregnancy I didn't want to wear a top that was tight around my belly showing my post baby belly; not attractive. I ordered some tops from Baby Center and LOVE them, they are stylish and are a breeze when nursing and help hide my belly. Here's a link and some coupon codes: http://store.babycenter.com/category/breastfeeding/nursing+clothing.do spend $100 save $10, spend $200 save $30, spend $300 save $60 - this coupon is good for any purchases at www.babycenterstore.com Coupon Code: SHOP689285

Best wishes
To the doula - I just delivered my baby at Sibley last Monday (2.4.08) and never once experienced that the nurses wanted me to supplement with formula. Rather I felt that it was quite the opposite. I didn't feel as though my DD was getting enough nourishment and was concerned and asked about supplementing. They told me to continue to try and nurse. One of the nurses (we called her nurse Ratched) brought in a pump and told me to use that after each attempt to stimulate my breasts to produce.

So maybe it depends on what nurses are on duty. But I honestly felt as though everyone was all about the BF rather than formula feeding.

Just my two cents.
Hi there. I just delivered at Sibley last week too (Monday). I rented their Medela pump ($30 week, $75 month, $180 3 months), it's awesome!!! I purchased the Medela InStyle pump and plan to break it out tomorrow as I am returning the rented pump :o( - I hear that the hospital grade pumps are much stronger than the ones that most purchase. I'll let you know tomorrow what I think of my InStyle. Congrats on your new baby!!! BTW, if you attended the lactation class they give out a 10% coupon (plus there aren't any taxes on the purchase) if you choose to purchase a pump from Sibley.
I am 39 weeks and although I didn't want all the baby stuff through out my home. Well, I broke down and now have on the first floor a pack n' play, papasan swing and what I think will be most handy is an inexpensive changing table (with baskets to keep extra diapers, change of clothing etc...) so I won't have to go upstairs to change the baby or if I need to put her down for a few minutes won't have to worry about one of my dogs stepping on her. One of my girlfriends suggested this and it worked out great for her so I am following suit.

Best of luck!
I am due in 1.5 weeks and went yesterday for the car seat safety check. I had the JJ Cole Bundle seat thingy and the police officer told me to get rid of it. He said that with the added cushioning/padding it makes it unsafe for the baby. He also said that the car seats are not crash tested or approved with those things, he also mentioned that even though a lot of those companies say that they meet all federal safety standards...but that there aren't any so it's just a bunch of crap. So...much to my dismay my husband and I went today to Buy Buy Baby to purchase the Cozy Up by Kiddopatumus - it's essentially the same sort of thing although it only goes OVER the car seat. So there isn't any padding behind baby. Plus it's about 1/2 the cost of the Bundle me.

Dr. Russell Bridges - he's my OB, my sister in-laws OB and I know of two other friends that he's delivered their children. He's solo as well, delivers 95% of his babies, takes the time to talk to you and has a great bed side manor.

Best of luck!
Arlington. But I am biased as I live in Arlington. Husband grew up in Potomac MD and prefers it over here too. Schools are fantastic here.

In way of rent you can totally afford some place nice for the range size that you're looking for in the Arlington area. We own a second home in Cherrydale that's a 2 bedroom 1 bath updated SFH that we rent (the market was horrible to sell) so we posted it on Craigslist and rent it for $1750 so I know that there are affordable places for you and your family.

Best of luck!
I am 37 weeks pregnant and had no clue such a thing existed, how wonderful!!!! I'm hoping that we won't need a sleeping coach but I'm super happy to hear that should my husband and I become overwhelmed and sleep deprived (well, I suppose that's a given really) but rather have a baby that refuses to sleep there are people to go to for help.

I love DCUM...except for the judgeMENTAL women that lurk about.
You may want to consult a dermatologist. It could be a number of things ie: Rosacea. You may even want to consider consulting another allergist since your current one dismissed your son's symptoms.
