Yep, that's what my DD's ped does (or the nurse). They pull out the book and check, they're fantastic. :o)
As a little tip, whenever I have been perscribed to take any meds I always call my DD's pediatrician and ask them. Oddly enough a lot of the time my doctor or OB will say something is fine but my DD's Ped says "no". So I always double check.
Ugh, I feel your agony. My DD will be 4 months old on the 4th. We too had this very same issue and I too wrote a post not too long ago. I got a lot of the same responses you did. My DD goes to a nanny share 6 hours a day (max) M-F. We thought her starting this would help with the bottle. WRONG! I purchased practically every bottle out there, even bought a 4 month training sippy cup too. I also bought several types of nipples too. The trick....eventually was the following:

Playtex "latex" nipple; slow flow (drop in system), but I think it was the latex that was key...she still isn't a fan of other nipples.
Warmed breastmilk (funny since she used to take it cold or room temp) and it ALWAYS has to be warmed to at least body temp. now.
Time and most of all patience.

We were very fortunate that the nanny stuck it out and was finally able to get our DD to take the bottle. Now she takes it like a pro. I was actually able to go out to the movies (SATC) tonight with my girlfriends and leave her with my husband. YIPEE! I have yet to give her a bottle, I leave that to the nanny or my husband.

The biggest key factor is the patience - and someone else doing the bottle feeding. Everyone is right, you shouldn't be around the house for it either. It will be pure torture for you and your baby if you're there.

Best of luck.
In the rare instance that your OB is not available to deliver your baby be sure to tell the on call doctor. My OB (Dr. Bridges) was of the mind set to let me tear, when I told him I wanted an episiotomy he said that wouldn't be a problem. Apparently these days having an episiotomy isn't the "thing" to do, but I was okay with having it done (had one years ago with my first and in February with my second). Best of luck!
Hi everyone! I am starting a casual mom's group in N. Arlington. It will be the Third Thursday (6.19) at Liberty Tavern, 11:30am. It's a great restaurant in Clarendon that is non-smoking and child friendly (they have changing tables in the women's and men's restroom). We are going to be in the couch/lounge area which is perfect for stroller parking and little ones. If you would like more information or would like to attend please e-mail me so that I can RSVP for everyone. Hope to see you at Liberty Tavern! - Christina

Her nanny.
Perfect! Thanks everyone.
Thanks! I'll have to check into getting some dry ice. We'll be in the Bahamas so hopefully it won't be too difficult to come by. Also, I guess I will need a cooler? Not too sure since I've never had to save more than a few hours worth.
So my DH and I are going away for the first time (our DD will be a little over 4 months old) for a few days. I am having some issues with leaving our DD but know that my DH and I need a little time away together and alone. My problem is that I've been BFing and pumping all along but since we'll be away I'll pump the entire time and I hate to just throw away all of that milk. Any suggestions on what to do with the milk vs. just dumping?

Many thanks!
Congrats on your baby and kudos for BFing. As for your over-supply there are lots of options out there but here's one:

The hospital has them for rent and they're great although a little bulky. I rented mine initially for a week then purchased a different model from Buy Buy Baby. I found the one that I purchased (Madela InStyle/backpack version) just as strong as the Madela Harmony. The hospital also rents them for a month, which tends to be cheaper than for just a week. Your hospital may let you rent for a week, should you choose to rent for a month let them know and they will more than likely convert your week to a month....just don't wait until the week is over with before letting them know.
Our DD was fine in the hospital bassinet (2 nights) but the first night home we tried to put her in the crib and she wouldn't have any part of it. We were beside ourselves. Reluctantly we brought her into our bed - we (especially me) needed some sleep. Fortunately after the first night it's been (knock on wood) great since and she'll be 10 weeks on Monday. She loves her crib, will sleep up to 6 hours at night (on breast milk) and will even go in her crib awake at times and fall asleep after about 10 to 20 minutes. We are truly blessed but I think it can vary for everyone - depends on the child and parents. Best of luck!
Kudos to you for BFing!

I have a 7.5 week old and have been BFing in public since she was 2 weeks. I ended up getting the "Hooter Hider/Be Beaulait" and it's fantastic, I've had several people approach me asking what it was and where they could buy one. You can purchase them online or at Buy Buy Baby.

I've used nursing tops as well as regular tops and I prefer my nursing tops with a nursing bra, much easier access. Not to mention my back or belly aren't exposed. I've nursed while walking with my DD, seated at a restaurant while eating, in the car (without the hider) and any other possible place it seems. I'm not terribly modest but I know that others would probably prefer not to see a gigantic boob/nipple while they're out shopping, eating or running their errands. Hence my purchase of the hider.

Best of luck and you just need to do what best suits your and DD needs.
I'm sure Sibley enjoys getting the additional $200 a night they charge for having the private rooms, not certain if they could charge the additional $$ to insurance companies if all the rooms were private. I delivered at Sibley almost 7 weeks ago and was lucky to get a private room. Glad to have it but to be honest with you it wasn't terribly nice. Thinking about delivering at VA Hospital Center the next time, all rooms are private there and it's a much nicer hospital.
I got the Triple Paste at Costco Pharmacy, over the counter. (Pentagon City location)
