I'm down to 145 lbs

I'm PP who lost 75 lbs over a year and I'm down 3 more pounds since late July when I posted here (from 180 to 177). That includes a week long vacation where I indulged quite a bit so while it's not a pound a week like I usually aim for it's still a pretty good win for me. Good luck everyone!

You are an inspiration to me. Thank you!

This thread is inspiring. I’m 48, 5’7” and 155 lbs. I want to lose at least 10 lbs. I’ve tried everything over the past few years, lose it and regain. Nothing lasts, and when I gain back it is plus a few pounds.

Has anyone done something to change their set weight?

I’m also curious about the apps you are using or if anyone has used a therapist or online support program. I want to try to do something more moderate in the hopes it lasts. I need to check in and get motivation. I liked Noom but I am thinking 1500 calories and low-ish carb over 6 months might be the way to go. So many diets I’ve done put me at 1200 calories. It’s just not sustainable. I also suspect it is the cause of my re-gain plus extra pounds. I did prolon fasts off and on last spring and haven’t eaten extravagantly this summer but have re-gained plus an extra 5 lbs. I think these low calories plans make my body pack it on later.

The regain is because you're going back to old ways I'm assuming. You have to make the change permanent, in my experience. I'm actually still losing by keeping to it. 5'7 down from 167lbs to 143 now.

That's fine. Your weight can fluctuate up to 3 lbs over a day. 2 lbs is small, it's not like you gained back 20. Keep going!

I had been doing great but I'm up a pound from last week and it's a little demoralizing. Just sticking to the plan and it's coming back down but gee it would be so much nicer if the pounds just fell off ha.

Jumping in today and starting the weight loss journey. Inspired by the group! 177 weight today, 5’6”, 45. Goal weight of 150. See you next week for a check in!

The emotional toll last week was high - dropped our kid off at college, got bad news about a friend - and I ate a LOT of ice cream. Delicious. And stopped tracking my food for the week. But I'm back on track. Doing my regular exercise this week and tracking my food again. And the tracking keeps me from eating thirds on ice cream.

Anyway, happy Thursday, looking forward to Friday!!!

For those of you frustrated by a couple pounds here and there, I’d recommend weighing yourself daily and googling “Noom weight loss charts.” I typically weighed myself weekly when trying to lose and when there was little or no movement, or worse, gain, I’d lose hope. Then I started weighing myself daily and got more accustomed to the fluctuations in water. Now it’s no big deal. Then I googled other people’s weight loss charts and it’s really inspiring to see the trend go down over time, despite the peaks and valleys.

I’ve lost 8 pounds with 7 to go. I’ve been hovering here for two weeks, but I feel confident I’ll get there.

Great job everyone!!!

Daily weighing is too much, it reeks of OCD. I am happy weighing once per week now I'm under 140 lbs.

Today I got into a pair of jeans and a cotton shirt I'd not worn since 2017 because they got tight. Today they were loose and looked great. and I was so happy about that.

“reeks of OCD”

DP but daily weigh ins work for me for the reasons PP said. I do it daily now when I’m actively trying to lose weight and still have over ten pounds to go. I don’t have OCD — rather it takes the pressure off the one weekly weigh in and keeps me from getting overly discouraged if that one weigh in doesn’t show progress. Like having quizzes instead of a massive test.

Yes this!
Two pounds can be inflammation, water weight, your period. It’s so defeating though. I get it.

I was already very active with weights at gym, run, biking, pickleball. I’m surprised at how much weight I’ve lost on a short 4.5 months by implementing more diet and exercise discipline. I guess I didn’t know I was overweight? By 21 lbs? Feeling much healthier and running faster by dropping lbs. why didn’t I do this sooner?

Has anyone yet suggested that OP go to the doctor and check her white blood cell count? That much weight loss with so little change sounds suspicious. Just to be sure, you should get a med screening for cancer.

Sure if you have OCD tendencies, maybe a daily weigh-in causes stress/obsessions.

I have zero OCD tendencies and a daily weigh-in is a wonderful help in keeping me honest.

Agreed. It’s like checking a mirror to make sure you don’t have lipstick on your teeth. You don’t need to make it into a big deal.
