Nice work ladies! Keep sharing your inspiring stories. |
My friend did BodySlim and lost 20 lbs in 10 weeks. |
Congratulations — that’s fantastic! Don’t count us middle aged ladies out!! I do need to keep reminding myself when I look at clothes online that I am 53 and not 23 and can be sexy but still respect my age group and not go overboard heh. |
Congrats! Can you share your general approach to exercise and meals each day or week? |
I’ll go. I’m a snacker and need to eat often or I get hangry. Here’s a sample day ~ 1400 calories.
Breakfast: 2 eggs and whole wheat toast with a bit of olive oil 1/4 cup of blackberries Coffee with oat milk, sugar, and 2 TBS marine collagen powder Snack: 1/2 apple and 1 TBS aLmond butter Green tea with honey Lunch: Big salad with romaine, arugula, cherry tomatoes, sunflower seeds, 1/2 can tuna fish, fingerling potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and apple cider vinagrette with mustard Snack: 3/4 cup cashew yogurt with 1/2 cup strawberries 1 teaspoon psyllium husk powder Dinner: Baked salmon with a drizzle olive oil, lemon and paprika Fingerling potatoes roasted in olive oil Sautéed kale with lemon Snack: 1/4 cup strawberries and 1 small square of dark chocolate Plus I drink an 8-12 ounce glass of water with every meal and snack. |
PP above. This may be closer to 1500 calories. I track everything. |
It is helpful to see this. Most of these foods are not what I'd prefer to eat personally, and yet I also follow a 1200 calories per day very lean and healthy diet. I think it's going to be very individual and really it should be, if it is going to work for you / me / anyone else. |
I agree. I’m the PP that lost 75 lbs over the last 14 months and the foods do eat are all things I really enjoy. I have a latte every morning. 3 or 4 days a week I eat two eggs and rye toast: days I don’t eat this I have a 200 calorie low carb lean cuisine for lunch. My big meal of the day is usually salmon with mashed cauliflower, green beans, and roasted cauliflower. I have a smidge of chocolate most nights (like, 5 Hershey’s kisses). I don’t snack between meals. I don’t really know how many calories this works out to but it’s working for me. My dinner portion is pretty large. |
one poster mentioned marine collagen powder. what brand?
for everyone else, how do you not cheat and maintain willpower when deaserts or fried food is around? |
I could be your twin - but I'm a guy. I'm 53, and have lost 18 lbs since early April. Doing low carbs, lot of meat, cheese, nuts, and salads. I run every morning on the trail 5 miles at least 5 days a week. I skip breakfast and don't eat lunch until after 1 pm and try to finish eating at night by 8:00 p.m. I hope to be at my high school weight in another 20 lbs. I started out mostly walking the 5 miles, but now I'm doing about a 13-minute mile average (mix of running, walking, and jogging). Best of luck! |
Jumping in to post my weight loss story. 50 years old, have lost 12 pounds in the last 8 months, slowly but surely. Would like to lose 5 more pounds to get to fighting weight. Do IF, relatively low carb (but eat fruits), with a little dessert, no alcohol. Exercise a mix of cardio and strength training, but it's really all diet at this age. Did this after a traumatic death in the family, so very motivated now to be healthy.
If I can do this, anyone can! |
I’m the collagen poster. I use Premium Anti-Aging Marine Collagen Powder 17.6 Oz | Wild-Caught Hydrolyzed Fish Collagen Peptides | Type 1 & 3 Collagen Protein Supplement | Amino Acids for Skin, Hair, Nails | Paleo Friendly, Non-GMO Haha that was very specific! I’ll answer the other too. I think it’s important to know what kind of eater you are and roll with it. I’ve tried IF and it was a disaster. I’m a snacker and a snacker snacks. Or kills someone. I admitted that on this board once and was accused of eating like a toddler. So be it. If I don’t plan for my snacks, I’ll eat them anyway. But instead of an apple I’ll have a muffin and instead of hummus and carrots I’ll have salt and vinegar potato chips. I keep those temptations in the house for others, but I’m only tempted to eat them myself when I’ve denied my snacking nature and I’m unprepared. |
I hate to dump cold water on your party, OP, but there's a very high probability that your weight loss will not be permanent. It's only been a few months. Your body will try to bring you back to your previous high weight unless you stay hungry for the rest of your life and maintain your restricted diet and increased exercise. Most people don't like feeling hungry, and eventually, their old dietary habits return, slowly, and their increased exercise tapers off.
Write back in five years, OP, if you're still at the same weight you are today. I'll be more interested in your successful weight loss story then. |
Has she gained it back yet? |
Wow, I’m so sorry you’ve had a hard time. Some people do manage to learn and grow while (and after) losing. Congrats, OP! |
