I’m almost at my goal of 130, down from 140 (now hovering between 131-132). Not sure what I’ll do once I reach it. I’ve never been able to maintain weight loss before but this time I made very sustainable changes and the weight came off slowly (over 3 months). I think I may just keep consistent and if more weight comes off that’s fine and if not, that’s fine too. I don’t feel deprived at all and I’m loving my healthier, more mindful approach to diet and exercise. Feels good.

That's great. I'm also doing the slow and steady route. How tall are you?

I’m 5’9”. I didn’t have much to lose so the weight came off slowly and I’m good with that. I didn’t really set out to lose but to develop healthy habits that don’t involve lots of rules or restrictions. When I started to lose on this new program, albeit slowly, I took that as a sign I was a bit out of balance. I average about 1500 calories a day, more if I’m active. I eat well and walk daily. Take a yoga or dance class once or twice a week. I plan to add some resistance to help with balance and metabolism. Working on sleep and mindfulness. My energy is better and my clothes fit again.

This is a great thread.

Adding clarity, I said initially that 130 was my goal but that’s not exactly accurate. That’s just the low end of the range I’ve been over the past 30 years.

Also, I mentioned that I didn’t want to restrict or follow rules. But I don’t drink or eat dairy, so those may be hard rules for many.

I think you'll find most folks on this thread are not following strict rules or guidelines, no one is struggling with obesity etc , but instead, we're following what works individually.

I was already very active with weights at gym, run, biking, pickleball. I’m surprised at how much weight I’ve lost on a short 4.5 months by implementing more diet and exercise discipline. I guess I didn’t know I was overweight? By 21 lbs? Feeling much healthier and running faster by dropping lbs. why didn’t I do this sooner?

Great. But I have knee issues . . . too bad to run anymore, not bad enough that any ortho will do anything more than injections to lessen pain temporarily.
I know I need to lose weight but the physical limitations are really hampering that.

If you change how you eat you will lose weight, your knees will improve and you'll then, as a lighter person be able to take on more exercise. That's how it works.

Wow that's great. How tall are you? Big difference between 5'0 at 119 and 5'9 at 119 (which would be severely underweight)

NP here, and judgement or comparison is not the point of this thread. Why do you need to qualify PP’s accomplishment?

What does PP’s height matter to you?

I'm not qualifying it, I am interested. I'm 5'7 and I'm currently 145 and my personal goal is 135 lbs. If I were aiming for 119 I'd be very very skinny but I'm aware everyone is built differently.

I ask out of interest and comparison, I hope that's ok.

that is a lot
If you keep it at a steady 2 lbs per week loss now, it will stay off better because you're not starving yourself down quickly and then inevitably piling it back on.
good luck!

When I lost weight after my kids it was about 1 pound a week. I don’t aim for more than that, but I appreciate it when it happens!!!
I’ve stayed at the 128-130 range this week. Expecting my period in 4-7 days, though, and this time of month can be hard to lose weight for me. Just not gaining is good

I'm down to 145 lbs

I'm PP who lost 75 lbs over a year and I'm down 3 more pounds since late July when I posted here (from 180 to 177). That includes a week long vacation where I indulged quite a bit so while it's not a pound a week like I usually aim for it's still a pretty good win for me. Good luck everyone!
