| Raven here. Predictably enough had a bad weekend. Getting a bit despondent because i dont actually think i have lost any weight at all. Good news is I havent put on any weight i suppose. |
Rosie here. Yay for checking in OP. Thanks for starting and keeping this going! Just the expectation that I’ll be checking in is a motivator. This is my first time trying it and it’s really helped me be more mindful about when and what I eat and drink. Thank you. |

Hey Rosie, so glad this thread is motivating. It isn't easy (for me, at least) to not eat until 4pm and I am definitely hungry, but I still think it is easier than calorie or carb counting for now-- at least to get me started. As of today, I am down ten pounds, which feels incredible. I still have a lot to lose, but considering that I spent the last six months failing at carb or calorie counting, I'm feeling pretty good about this.
In the next couple of days I want to come up with a plan for October. Any ideas? |

Op here again (that was me above, too).
Raven, it is pretty frustrating not to lose. I've been there and still consider myself an incredibly slow loser. If you were on an upward trend and gaining, then not gaining is indeed a victory. I forget-- what plan are you doing? OMAD? |
|
I'm watching the thread, too. I'm doing 2 meals a day, not 1, but still find this thread helpful.
I've gained a few pounds in the last year or two as perimenopause has crept up on me and I stopped paying attention to what I ate ... But being mindful now is helping. |
| This is my first time clicking on this thread but I started OMAD after seeing this in my feed. I've lost 4 lbs in 2 weeks. I sorta cheat in that I have a small extremely high protein breakfast (just a portion of lean meat or fish). |
| My body feels different -- like I've lost weight -- but I haven't lost any weight at all on the scale. (I originally lost one pound but gained it back.) Does that make any sense? Can you lose fat but not lose weight? |
|
Op here. I'm glad some people have been motivated and/or inspired by this thread. Some days are easier than others, but I do find IF to be the easiest weight loss method that fits my life situation.
Let's talk October. As much as I really want to eat breakfast sometimes, I'm thinking I might stick with OMAD one more month. I've had great results and I figure I should ride this train as long as its working. I've considered only doing it six days a week, but I know myself, and I'm likely to binge big time on my off day, and I'm also nervous that the lack of consistency makes fasting days harder. Any thoughts? |
| Op here. How was everyone's weekend? Mine wasn't great, but going to try and finish strong during the last three days of the month. |
| Last day, everyone! Any thoughts? Updates? |

Raven here op. I fisnished at exactly the same weight as i was when i started.
can we start an Oct thread? Once more with feeling
|
| Raven, OP here. I took today off but am going back to it starting tomorrow! I'm happy to join an OMAD October thread! |
| I am doing omad right now. For 10 days. To drastically lower my calories. So, I am sticking with a bowl (large) of oatmeal, some Chinese dumplings and a protein bar a day. It comes to around 1100 calories. It is working. But, it would work if I ate it spaced too. Just this way, I at least feel full half a day. |
| To me it sounds a lot more reasonable to eat two meals a day--you get many of the same benefits of IF, but seems a lot more sustainable to wait until noon or 1 pm to eat and then have a light dinner around 6. I mean, no offense, but you all sound miserable and it didn't seem that effective. I also read somewhere that long stretches without food is not necessarily as effective for women as men. |

I'm a NP, and I started doing OMAD this week. My backstory: I started gaining weight during quarantine because I was doing less strenuous workouts and was eating terribly. I think I sort of thought it was a "free pass" when we were all baking back at the beginning and it took me until June to really put a stop to it. However, I still kept gaining even after starting to reign it in. It just felt like I couldn't get my hunger under control, even though now I was trying to eat "better."
Fast forward to now, and I'm so tired of battling with myself night after night to stay out of the kitchen. It's not hunger exactly, maybe just cravings. But when I do OMAD, that completely disappears. 100%. I don't know why. I don't really care. And yes, I'm a little hungry around lunch time, but it passes and I can make it to 4 or 5pm pretty easily. It's less of an issue than trying not to over-snack in the evenings. So far this week I've lost 2lb. |
