| Forgot to add, I drink a big glass of water with every meal. When I first started out, I'd add a tiny bit of apple juice just so that it didn't taste like plain water. Now that I've weaned myself off of sugar, I don't mind it plain. |

6:47 here, I wuld pass out if I ate like this. Or beat the living crap out of someone somewhere, my blood sugar can't handle this type of eating. |
Yeah, OP, you had fast food for lunch AND dinner. Willpower isn't your problem (at least, your primary problem). |
OP here- This one I could do! I have never done the luna/cliff bar thing, I have hypoglycemia and I get shaky. I think I will give this a go for a day or so and see how I feel. Thanks! And congrats on the 5 lb loss

Yesterday:
60-minute boot camp style work out with weights -Smoothie containing skim milk, water, berries, banana, protein powder -1.5 hours later I had an egg white with small amount of cheese -Lunch was salad with greens, a few pistachios, fat free feta, 1 tsp of low fat dressing, apple, rotisserie chicken plus 1/2 piece of whole wheat bread -Afternoon snack was a cheese stick and a few nuts -Had a training last night, dinner provided for us from bbq place. I had meat with no bread, some coleslaw and a scoop of potato salad (no mayo) I'm fat but successfully losing weight. |
Thanks! This is me on the 6 Week Body Makeover. The tl;dr version of it is cut out all fat, sugar and salt, watch your portion sizes, and eat 5 to 6 meals a day. I did it when it first came out and lost 20 lbs. 8 years and 2 kids later I have 50 lbs to lose. If I were following it super strictly, the protein bars wouldn't be allowed, but making 5 meals a day, just for myself never mind the kids, would make me want to lie down and not bother. I also am still using Pam and olive oil in home made viniagrettes because plain balsamic on my salads weren't cutting it. |

Breakfast: Oatmeal w/skim milk, chopped walnuts & dates. Coffee w/2% skim milk.
Lunch: Turkey wrap made w/lettuce & shredded carrots. Put a little wasabi mayo on there (maybe a teaspoon), also had a bag of Route 11 chips and an apple. Drank water. Snack: Cheese stick & Breton crackers. Dinner: Chili con carne (crockpot) w/homemade baguette. Sprinkled some shredded cheddar cheese on top. Evening snack: Piece of pumpkin pie. I see I'm not eating much fruit. Hmmm. I am overweight, probably by about 30 lbs. |

^^^PP here, adding: No vigorous exercise but I walked the dog 3x (total probably an hour and a quarter).
I do Jazzercise 3x/week. |

"hypoglycemia" and get shaky....try eliminating all grains and sugar and get your carbs from veggies and more of your calories from fat. The first week or so you will feel AWFUL as your body remembers how to switch from glycogen metabolism to using your fat stores for energy, but after that it will be fine.
I think of hypoglycemia as your body's "panic attack" OH NO THERES NO MORE SUGAR WHAT DO I DO? but if you wait through it, it will go away. It isn't easy but is very doable once you realize what is going on. |
23:33 here - good for you, keep it up! Another bar I really like is ThinkThin in peanut butter or dark chocolate (from Whole Foods). MY DH gets them and they are actually really good - and I think a little lower cal than the Clif bars. |

Oops, 11:30 here. I'm just under 5'9", weigh about 138 lbs. Size 6.
Plus, I forgot that I walked the dogs another 2 miles in the evening before bed. |
I have this problem too, and I am totally addicted to sugar. What veggies have carbs? I really need to work on this. Not the OP, sorry to hijack... |
Good carb-y veggies: butternut squash, sweet potatoes, white potatoes if they are baked. But I eat paleo, so avoid beans and legumes too. If you don't, then I would eat beans over white potatoes. Most of your energy should come from fat metabolism. This means decreasing circulating glucose and insulin---insulin inhibits fat metabolism, so if you are always snacking or never going more than 3-4 hours without food, your body doesn't switch over and use your stored fat. If you exercise before you eat, you are going to use stored fat for energy and lose fat. If you just decrease calories, you will also lose muscle mass as well. You have to be willing to be hungry, though, and know it isn't the end of the world. It takes some getting used to. Go look at marks daily apple online. He is the best of the primal/paleo people. |
