They will fall off a bit this year however the future of the program looks bright with their new coach.

How many commits on team this year?

My older son plays at a very high level in his sport and will play in college, and I was ignorant about that sport before we started all this, but I had other parents help me along the way, and I enjoy helping the up-and-coming parents as well. I really think you'll feel better about yourself if you try to be kind.

there are a handful of club teams that are very competitive at most birth years - Laxachusetts, Team 91, LI Express, FCA, Crabs, Madlax, 3D National, West Coast Starz and Sweetlax. Once in a while a team will come along that is good at one birth year like the Tenacious Turtles. But the above clubs are gateways to college. If you play for one of them you are very likely going to play college lacrosse at some level. Sweetlax has multiple teams, but the only one to play for is the National team. they play in great tourneys including in Lake Placid. There is no tryout - the guy who runs it has to select your child.

DCE 2021 Black apparently won all the big national tourneys over the summer, my son's friend is on the team and says their players are getting invited to the on campus college prospect days from all the top programs this fall and this DCE (9th grade) team is beating Varsity A teams on a regular basis in Next Level fall league. Sounds like the real deal.

There are other clubs that excellent every year and are reliable gateways to college DI lacrosse - M+D, Capital, YellowJackets, Skywalkers, and a handful of others - girls clubs.

But, weren't those summer tourneys before the team broke apart? No one has suggested that it wasn't a good team when it was together. The issue is that the club couldn't hold it together.

Since they can't commit till the fall of junior year, not sure what can happen by going to any of these prospect days as freshman.

Who cares?

People who hope the gap between private school and public school lacrosse is shrinking.

Happy to see schools like Urbana, Churchill and QO playing fall ball. Unfortunately, having seen a few games, it's clear the gulf between moco and private schools is large.

Another idiot dad/mom. The team was very good (not as good now that 1/2 the starters left). They won a couple tournaments in the summer, but not every one (impressive, nonetheless). There are several kids on that team who are very good. But getting invites to prospect days is common for all the top clubs. And beating some Varsity teams in the Next Level league is not that impressive given who they played.

Another stupid parents who relies on what his/her son's friend says. DCE 2021 is a very good team, but has fallen a lot not that they broke up.

This comment is a prime example of why our son stopped playing lacrosse. The parents behave this way, and then so do their sons. My son was a decent player, but he was tired of the entitled attitude of some of the players, who ironically were not very good. In fact the talented players were generally polite and courteous. It was the ones who thought they were good that acted like complete jerks. So glad we have moved on.

+1 My DS did the same as well. Add in a lot of really terrible coaches and it made the decision pretty easy.

They will drop off more than just a little. A strong goalie and fogo can make a mediocre team better than they really are - next year SJC will return to mediocrity.

I am so looking forward to the fall tournaments! It looks like all the local private boys programs are participating this year. I wonder if the recruiting rule chamges are impacting this decision.
