These "ranking" write-ups are not worth a whole lot. I am sure they are good players. I am also sure that there are many players as good who are not on this list. I am also sure that many of these players listed will struggle to find time on the field in college. It happens year after year. On a credibility scale of 1 to 10, in my opinion the opinions in these lists are a solid 5! |
I will add that the RR ranking from Ty Xanders was more legit than the Inside Lacrosse rankings. Ty was independent and did try for accurate rankings. The Inside Lacrosse ranking is used to promote events they either run or support and cover. NLF events for example do not hit the radar of IL and will cause players to get missed. Maybe it is a good thing there is not an official ranking of HS players. As far as being sure that many of these players will struggle in college, that may be statistically correct but I cannot speak for any of these players personally. Many were in the zany days of 8th and 9th grade recruits and so this is probably correct. I think the new rules will help schools do a better job in getting in right with a players potential. |
The RR rankings had some whoppers over the years. I don't give that any more cred than IL. I think that guy is now back at IL in any event. The recent IL write-up talking about freshmen players on college programs predicted as potential impact players included at least a few who had dropped from their programs within the first few months of arriving at college. Those players obviously won't make an impact notwithstanding their "high lax IQ", "ability to cover ground", and "grittiness and savvy" as the pundits described. A lot of what is written about these kids its obtained from people on the sideline at a club tournament or from a person whoever played the game watching a kid play for 10 minutes, and its just not all that reliable from a journalistic perspective. |
Well said. Or the kids who are willing to go to the most prospect days or recruiting tournaments. These lists are about visibility to the people/person compiling the list and not necessarily the most skilled or best players. I'm happy they're on the list if that makes them happy but don't be delusional about what the list represents. Easy access is the name of the list game. |
Can we get beyond Landon, Bullis, etc.? I know there is a great school in southern VA looking for lacrosse players to add to their already strong program, Christchurch School. They have an amazing campus, great teachers, and some financial aid. It is a boarding school, but most kids from the DC area come home on weekends.Beyond lacrosse, they have an outstanding global program and a championship sailing team. |
Christchurch has a horrible lacrosse team. |
Bullis will drop big time next spring? Haha. Like Back 2 Back Championship big time drop? |
