And what year are you at Landon? Because if you aren't a student then you are an idiot. If any school takes in a late summer transfer skirting the admission policy and benches or cuts players for transfers, the school will get crushed by the current families of the school. Now go back to playing Fortnite.

You’re correct. Doesn’t make sense to bring over those 2021’s this late in Summer. Probably just one of the DCE teammates messing around. Nobody should take anything too serious on these message boards as it’s just HS sports. That go’s for my take below, as well! And yes, I realize I am coming strictly from the lacrosse pov.

Having ref’d and observed lacrosse in the area for over 15 years (high school, club, rec), the 2 best/most talented club teams I have seen in the DC area are the 19 Madlax and 21 DCE teams. And it’s not close as both are right at top for their age on the national club scene and win or come close to winning all the big summer tournaments. Bullis got really good when they loaded up with talented 2019 Madlax kids the past few years and results speak for themselves. I think only 1 of the 2021 DCE kids got serious playing time as a freshman this past Spring at Bullis, but the majority all got time in games I had as well as IAC Championship (didn’t ref it, but went to watch). Make no mistake, that 21 DCE team is very, very talented, no matter where they currently go to HS or who runs the Club. Using Madlax 2019/Bullis result as a lesson, one could predict who will be at the top of the IAC in the next few years. If I’m right, just look who has the most 21 DCE kids as talent wins. As we sit here today, it’s Landon far and away. If any of the Bullis/ DCE kids move over to Landon and join their fellow DCE teammates, then book Landon with IAC Championships for 2020 and 2021 for sure. They will have too much top talent consolidated on one HS team, no matter how good the coaching is at the other schools.

Jeff is a heckuva coach who loves to win and has been around so long, I’m sure he knows this. Will be interesting to watch how he handles it, but my guess is he will work to put it all back together, so those DCE kids will all stay and he can build around them for the future. The IAC is much more fun to be around when Bullis, Landon and Prep are all really good.

Great post! I will add into the mix, the Mad Lax 2018 team was also very special with Epstein and Miezen. In my opinion they are just as good as the Mad Lax 2019 Team.

I also agree that Jeff Bellistri is a good coach. It will be very interesting to see how he handles the situation starting this Fall. Based on families I have spoken with, it sounds like some players and parents are really divided on the coaching situation. Not everyone was in love with Bellistri, not everyone was in love with the DCE coaches. Bullis best player last year, Shellenberger, is transferring back home to STAB, he was a key component to Bullis' run to an IAC title late in the season. Coach Bellistri will have his hands full next Spring.

Lesson learned here: Don't mix club coaches with high school programs, it is a slippery slope and can lead to a conflict of interests.

I've seen no evidence the kid is going back to STAB. All his and STAB's social media haven't made mention and he is still listing Bullis as his school. I've also seen no evidence of Bellistri being reinstated but then again Bullis still has the same list of all the coaches from last year. Please post.

Why do any of these schools allow their coaches to foster this conflict of interest with their work on outside clubs? Even my DS's private, which is not one of the super strong programs, has staffed most of its coaches with Madlax staff and coaches and all those club players are given much more opportunity. As an example, three freshman played varsity--all three were Madlax. It did not shed a good light on what is supposed to be a well-rounded school. This clearly happens with the girls and the clubs as well. I think the HS leagues should come together and say no outside coaching. Eliminate the favoritism and the pay-to-play.

agreed. i undertsand the coaches do it for more money (and to funnel players), but the schools get no financial benefit. mayeb their teams are better, maybe not. but it's shady.

My guess is that the reason is because the club coaches are the gate keepers to the college coaches and the prized athletic scholarships they possess. Most of the college recruiting is done at the club level, particularly at tournaments, and not through the schools/leagues.

A good or bad reference from a reputable coach like JB goes a lot farther than a club coach.

One can make the case for any of 4 teams in IAC to win or any of 3 teams in WCAC. Parity is good. Only wish there were more public schools in region who could play with the top in area - like in Long Island, or NJ or upstate NY.

Riverside in Leesburg looks like a Private school with 5 d1 commits, including UMD and OSU.

Impressive. Is the list posted somewhere?

That's a public school.

There are several Loudoun kids in the year's SR class that are committed to top schools. Many did not choose to play for private schools due to the long commute. Look to see PVI benefit from this in the near future with the move to Loudoun.

So how does this site work> Riverside has about 10 names listed with 1 kid getting a score while well known lax schools have the entire roster listed and 10+ getting scores.

That is because Inside Lacrosse scoring is meaningless. Some teams do not go to IL recruiting events or events they cover so they do not get rated. UA is a better indicator. The real measure is the fact that they committed. It is clear the coaches did not care about the IL rating system.

Two of them listed here as 4 stars. Shockingly the OSU recruit not mentioned as he might have the most upside for college ball
