Nope. None of these. Every class is different yes but Capital is the best program in the DMV for hs. |
+ 1000 And 3,2,1, here comes the snarky, change the topic rant from the wanna be hater |

Interesting comment from the PP.
"But don't kid yourself that an emerging program, no matter how hard the club hustles or well-meaning will get into the same tournaments, brackets, as Capital and the others. It just won't happen. Could it happen in 5-10 years? Maybe." Isn't Pride, after two HS classes, already playing in the same tournaments and brackets as Capital? First, we should be congratulating all of the Capital girls who were recruited and will have the opportunity to continue playing the sport they love at the college level. Best of luck to each of them. Second, for those hating on Capital it is not a good look. Capital has a proven history as a successful lacrosse program. Third, starting with the 2023s the talent pool is now being split between several high school clubs, which will impact the strength of future Capital teams. Capital is no longer the only elite local high school club in town and having options is good for all. Will future Capital classes produce 40 college commits -- probably not. Not because they will not have good players, it will be because the best players will be playing for multiple clubs going forward. |
So basically you can't answer the question but just respond with more BS? Not surprised. |

One fact you all seem to either be unaware of or ignoring is that far greater numbers of girls in the area are playing lacrosse starting at much younger ages. There was nothing for little girls for my now highschool DD until she was in at least third or fourth grade. The first rec programs were in VA counties and for residents only. DC and MD girls had nothing until Bethesda lacrosse added a girls rec program in around 2010 or maybe a little later. For rec, club and even clinics/lessons there were a tiny fraction of the options now available.
The pool of young female players has exploded in the DMV in the past decade. The sport continues to grow in this area. We needed another, in fact several other, great hs clubs in addition to Capital. The area has at least enough girls to field several high school aged club teams, and good quality teams at that. For example, for the 2022 class, Capital, Cardinal and MCElite have all been ranked in the top 20 teams nationally. For the 2023 class Pride has joined that group. The DMV has at least 3-4 programs that are considered top programs NATIONALLY!!! This is a GREAT THING people, not something to fight about. Hopefully families will soon not need to drive to Baltimore to join teams there. There are now top players, programs and coaches in several HS programs, specifically Capital, Cardinal, MCElite, Pride and VA Metro. The fortunes of each club will wax and wane but we, especially we women and Mom’s, should be thrilled that women’s lacrosse is growing and improving so quickly in our area. That’s a HUGE ACHIEVEMENT FOR OUR ATHLETIC DAUGHTERS. Let’s be happy about that and stop tearing apart clubs, girls and each other. |
You first...since I asked you first...I’ll wait |
This is a great post really. But as a parent with an 8th grader trying to decide which of these clubs to tryout for next year its really difficult. MC Elite and Capitol seem to be on downward trajectories where Pride is going the other way (according to what I have read here of course) and rankings. Its just hard to determine what will work out best so anything we can gain from reading these boards is helpful. I think or should I say I hope. |
With the at least 2 of the 3 clubs you mentioned, you are really splitting hairs. They are all on a similar level and it will come down to the group of athletes. What do you know about her current class of athletes? Who does your daughter play for now? Where is the majority of her current team trying out? I assume you have more insight than just what you are reading on these boards. |
| Sure - but its hard not to be wary of something you thought was great (Capitol) when you read some of these messages. You begin to second guess when you see how well Pride is doing and how many terrible things you hear about Capitol. |
MC Elite really shouldn't be mentioned with Capital and Pride at this point....sad drop off there |
Their 22 team should. And it’s not far fetched to imagine they may well have another top ranked team at some point in the near future. Sounds like their biggest obstacle is hiring consistent, non-parent coaches. Hopefully they figure it out. To the PP asking which club your DD should try out for this summer, the best advice I can give you is to talk to current parents and your DD’s high school coach. They, along with your DD are best positioned to help you decide. Most of what you read in these threads is completely stained with anger and agenda. I personally believe one program has the best future, and for easily detailed reasons based on facts but you can’t distinguish whether an anonymous post is genuine. You need to seek answers irl. As a parent whose DD has played for several clubs, I promise you the most important thing you can do is support your DD, believe in her, and help her find the best college camps and clinics to expose her to the colleges she is most interested in. Let her see what college coaches are like. Also attend as many college games as you can at different schools - so she can see if she likes the vibe, the college game and processes are very different from club and hs and she may not like it, or she may love it and be willing to put in the work to get there. This forum will do you no good. It’s just too toxic and too easy to spread falsehoods. |
I wouldn't base your decision on a forum with anonymous posters, that definitely weakens credibility IMO. There have been several LOGICAL replies stating that Capital has a longstanding reputation for top level high school lacrosse, and Pride is developing and heading in that direction as well. When another competitive club emerges, it will naturally have an impact on the other club splitting the top talent pool in 2 directions. Hopefully the younger age groups, rec and travel, can keep up with developing enough girls to support 2 top level programs. Unless you want to drive to Md, Capital and Pride are your 2 choices, and based on all of the posts they both have their pros and cons. Does your daughter already have strong core group of players on her current team? If they all try out for the same team, then that program will likely continue to be strong at that age group. If you daughter is good enough to make pride or capital in high school, I think you are on a good track either way. |
| As an outsider whose DD plays for a Baltimore club, we've been very impressed with Pride (25). I know Capital has a very good track record, but where are they expecting to get their talent next year for the 25s? Pride already has a solid 25 team. Competitive with all the Baltimore teams. MC Elite, not so much. That said, might be tough to make an already established Pride team. Interesting to me that Capital has been so successful when they just start up at HS age where as a lot of the MD teams already have set rosters by that point. But track record shows both ways are working... |
| 21:41 back again to say thank you for these posts they really are helpful. And you are right....Pride and Capitol will both be great options...although I can't help but think Pride will be the better of the two but like was also stated will be tough to make an established team. Thanks again |
Well it’s easily to look to the current Capital ‘24 teams to answer this question. The girls on the Capital ‘24 teams are the best players from an array of middle school teams not including Pride NOVA, in a pretty accurate order of the numbers from each club that made Capital ‘24: Stars, Cardinal, MCElite, Pride Loudon, VA Metro. Pride NOVA Red (and white I would assume) seem to have kept all its players but several other clubs lost their top players to Capital, which has always been the case. Those girls are far more interested in Capital than Pride because Capital teams are all new for hs, unlike Pride which folks have noted several times above. I think it will quickly become the norm that the Pride players, with a few exceptions, will stick through to HS and Capital will draw girls from all the other area clubs. |
