I am also a former college coach, albeit on the mens side. The only caveat I would add to your above statement is that when a club wins, they tend to advance and play against the other better teams. I want to see a young person compete against the top talent and with higher stakes, if it can be achieved. The only way to find out (sort of, as I realize it is in summer) is to win and get to the playoff round. If your daughter is on a team that is constantly competing to win tournaments, then I have more chances to watch the athlete compete under the tougher conditions. It's not everything, but it helps. |
| Based on some of the comments from Capital Club Reps, we will all be waiting for the social media posts and club advertisements that say, our teams rarely win and we are playing lower level clubs but if you are good, you will definitely stand out to the few d3 coaches that are still coming to watch our games. |
MC Elite, Pride and Rattlers have to be loving this melt down. |
| I've been watching this for a year and thought it would be fixed with some adjustments on our team. Recently realized it is not the case. Without the exit of key individuals closest to the new owner, this club will continue to fail the girls. Not really realistic to change to another club but younger girls should start moving from Stars next year so that they can steer clear of everything that is going on. |
| Couldn't agree more! I do believe the new Owner has the best intentions but she is very young and inexperienced. This, unfortunately, leads her to lean on the Deputy Director for policy decisions and he doesn't have very good judgement. He has proven that while he can take superior talent and win with them he is not a strong coach or developer of skills and his own ambitions are the most important criteria in almost all of his decisions. |
If her intentions were good, you would be able to gather all Capital goalies and their parents and they would be able to give you details on how the owner/US Team goalies spent hours of her time preparing them for what was next--each of them being different based on the year and individual goals. That is not the case. |
| I don't believe any club would be excited to see another club trashed by petty parents on an anonymous board. Having multiple clubs benefits the DMV and offers a place for all levels and interests in travel lax. I'm confused as to why you would lump MC Elite, Pride & Rattlers together. They are very different Clubs and compete in different tournaments and brackets. In fact, Rattlers doesn't even go to the same tournaments as the other 2 clubs. I'm not a Capital parent, but I think all of these attacks are pointless and petty. |
There is such a thing but it only comes with the platinum package. Expect you would find her more often charging $150/hr for doing agility drills with attackers. Her Deputy Director counterpart does the same. |
Would be pretty hard to make this kind of forum less anonymous. Not a fan of petty attacks either but a good bit of the stuff above is pretty significant and if what I have heard is true, Capital is pretty vindictive toward parents and players that don't fall in line. |
Your post comes off like Pride/MC Elite/Rattlers are somehow below Capital. Don't think that is how they see it. If you aren't a Capital parent, who are you? |
| A relevant question is why so many 22 players have not yet been recruited, given how quickly the recruiting process went this fall. Have they not developed into D1 players or did the recruiting coordinator drop the ball? Either way parents and players must be unhappy about this. |
| For a post about a team that has around 120 players to have over 1000 views. Where is the dude that said nobody cares about a club lacrosse team? |
Umm there is like five people who each view it 15-20 times a day? |
| Wishing everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Hope you all can spend time with family and friends, focusing on what's most important in life. Let's not take things for granted, and be humble and more kind to one another. |
| Good advice - just make sure it's more humble and more kind than the Capital Deputy Director - although that's a low bar |
