That is laughable. Players who move from stars to pride, and pride to stars (which happens often) are both making lateral moves. The only way to upgrade from either team is to go to Maryland. |
Agree that the younger girls are not thinking about recruiting but rather where they enjoy playing and competing. It does seem that the younger teams are having less and less private school kids as the teams grow. On the other post about players moving back and forth between programs, it definitely is a lateral move at best. It shall be interesting to see what happens to the NVA talent pool with the new YJ Mid Atl program coming into the area. |
| Like everything there are ups and downs by year and by region. When we had 2 All-Americans last year here at Ireton (UVA and UNC) and that was unusual. When Saints had 1 ( Penn) and Visi had 2 (ND and Tech), the year year before that was also unusual. If we have a season, we probably have 1 (PSU), Stone Ridge will probably have 2 (ND and Richmond) and St Stephen's will probably have 3 - 4 (2x Stanford, Hopkins and Vanderbilt). There might be one public All-American from Langley (Penn), but outside of that, no one else. So, it would make sense that more come from the publics in the 22 and 23 classes. |
Not sure what this has to do with Capital's inability to get 11 girls on the field to play offense and defense together across 3 different year groups. |
| Its a pendulum. One year you get publics, and another you get private schools. |
| As a parent who moved her daughter up to a Baltimore club for HS, I would recommend that everyone consider it if your daughter is truly seeking to get to another level. Our experience w Stars was laughable. At our Baltimore club, the level of accountability, intensity and expectations are probably 3x what it was w Stars. Granted, I am sure Capitals is a step up as well from Stars, but based on results of over a year now, it hasn't made an impact on the Caps team. |
| Curious how the Baltimore team worked out logistically. Getting to practice, etc |
| Please don't write about specific 15-16 year old girls in your comments. They are not professional athletes. They are high school girls with insecurities and varying levels of talent, but for the most part, they all are trying their best. That's horrible to write negative things about a player here, even if it is "spot on." Imagine if you were her or her parents reading this. I think it is despicable. Argue as parents all you want, but there is no excuse for singling out and attacking a young girl. |
It has worked out really well. 1 practice a week in the fall on weekends. 2 practices a week after school season is done to prep for the summer tournament season. There was a carpool of 3 girls from the DC area, so I had to drive 1 out of every 3 practices. Once tournament season started, the club went to 1 practice a week. Team was great. Organized around recruiting. No parent coaches. Everyone understood the deal as it related to the role of the parent. Very competitive, but also very transparent and positive type of approach. |
Agreed. My daughter is a 23 and is now sort of "stuck" here w Caps. We just are a step behind the top Baltimore clubs. Too late now so we will make the best of it with some extra camps and getting our daughter on some campuses of schools she is considering and are at her level (she says she wants to play in college, but that could change too) so she can be seen by those coaches. Pretty sure they won't be making it to our fields at tournaments next Summer unless we are playing one of the top clubs. |
| More posts deleted. Guess Facebook is running the forum now. |
DC Urban Moms can run their forum as they see fit. But based on an above comment it seems like someone/people were calling out kids by name, which is crap. Don't target HS kids. |
If you are not happy at Capital, then leave and go join Skywalkers Blue team. Seriously. Or... just leave Capial and stop playing Club. What's that? Your daughter isn't good enough to make Skywalkers? I truly don't understand why you would "stay" with Capital if you are so effing miserable?!?!? I'm calling your bluff. You're a spineless chicken if you don't. Go ahead and have your daughter leave Capital now. Why be unhappy and miserable? You'll feel SO much better. |
| And your post, PP, is why so many girls are unhappy. No one likes to be stuck on a team with people like you. Most girls will put up with all the other stuff but your (and that of others of your ilk) bullying mean girl behavior does more harm to the Club than anything else. |
First off...take a pill. Very aggressive for an anonymous board...must be involved w Caps somehow...good for you...real winner you are building..you must be proud. Second, if you don't think kids "stick" with their club once they get to HS even though they wish they were in a different spot, you're as nuts as your post. By HS, all the clubs are basically locked in. If you move, you move after 8th grade. We didn't. That was our mistake. So, we will stick it out...supplement training/coaching, play hard for our HS and do our best to get her in front of coaches another way as we will not be relying on the college coaches coming to see Caps 23 this summer at tourneys. And as mentioned, maybe she will chose not to try and play in college and that's fine too. I've got 2 other kids already playing (D1 and D3, both boys) and it isn't for everyone. |
