Exactly the same here. I hope 12 pounds come off before the end of the year. Dealing with this weight plateau for weeks...I feel like it's finally breaking now. |
I'm trying to manage my expectations about how long 12 pounds will take with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas/New Years all coming up, ha. My App tells me I will have it in early January (I've been averaging about a pound a week for a while), but those three holidays are going to add a bit of time I think! |
I actually think this is the best time to focus and set good habits. You’ll be tested a lot, but think of how much better you’ll feel in January having met your goal! One Thanksgiving meal or a couple drinks on New Year’s isn’t going to stall your progress - but allowing yourself to eat candy for a few weeks definitely will (ask me how I know 😂). Just don’t give up because it’s the holiday season is my point I guess. Outside of those few days you can stay diligent and come into 2023 feeling amazing! |
How much candy is ok to eat really? I've had about 5 toffees and 5 ginger snap cookies today for eg - seems that I'm still losing weight. So is this okay to be doing? It's much less junk than I used to eat. I seen posts here that say NO snacks at all. What do you think? |
I am down 10lbs. I broke my plateau by eating more |
Scared to do this, when I eat more - just gain weight quickly. |
I love these encouraging posts. I’m the exhausted PP from yesterday and I’m SO proud I didn’t emotionally eat. Today I have the same stress but I actually got some sleep so hopefully I can do it again! |
Did you make it? I hope you did! It can be so hard to stick it out but I know you can do it! I'm feeling a lot of stress this week from home and family. I am in awe of the person who is eating 5 ginger snaps and 5 candies and still losing -- that's definitely not where I am right now. At this point I feel like I'm 85% willpower, 12% anxiety, and 3% coffee, heh. Good luck everybody, I hope you see the results you are looking for! |
I did, I think. I ate a few chips but definitely out of hunger and not emotion. I am not good at being hungry so I don’t usually have calories for cookies or candy at all. Maybe if I find more time to exercise but that was not really in the card today, though I squeezed in what I could. How did you manage with your stress today? I am working on finding non food ways to deal with stress and a little time outside with my kids really helped. This is a really beautiful fall. |
You ate more… how? More calories? Larger quantities but less calorie dense foods? More protein but pulled back on carbs? Higher fat? Please don’t just throw the suggestion out to eat more when people aren’t sure what that means. |
For me personally, I can’t have any candy. If I have one piece, it’s like I lose control and want 10 pieces immediately. It’s honestly easier to avoid it altogether than to battle myself to stop once I’ve started. And now that I’ve avoided it for so long it’s second nature. You may have a different personality type or better willpower - so try to add in moderate amounts of sweets you love and see how it goes! If it were me I would save my sweet tooth for something special like my favorite baklava or key lime pie over a few Reese’s cups but everyone has their vices. |
Yay, you!!! It was so smart to go outside with your kids yesterday -- everybody gets some sunshine and to enjoy the leaves and smells etc. It is flat out beautiful outside these days! Sometimes at work when I'm stressed (like yesterday) I walk determinedly around the city for about 20 minutes and just the time in the sunshine is helpful for my stress. It feels like I am doing something for me and I need it and I like it. I've been less successful at doing that when I work from home, hmmm. I agree that it's important to find destressors that aren't related to food, I wonder if other people have ideas on these? My biggest downfalls are Fridays when I "cheat" and have a hamburger and chips, and often go overboard on the chips. I mean, they are delicious! I want to keep my cheat days because I feel like they help keep my metabolism in check in comparison to normal days for me when I eat less. But I need to be careful not to cheat too much heh! I'm still losing, and am down to my lowest weight in years today (lost 89 pounds now), so it's working, but as I get closer to my goal, things are going a little slower. Keep going, everyone! Any other destressor suggestions? |
Mid 40s, 5’6” woman here checking in. I’m down two pounds this week for a total of 43 lbs lost. I never thought I’d make it to the mid 130s on the scale. One more pound to go before my next goal. I was proud of myself with all my travel last week, I didn’t have a scale but I put into practice all the habits I’ve been cultivating over the last nearly 6 months and made the best choices I could while allowing some grace for a cannoli (can’t visit where I went without a cannoli!). Despite 4 days of meals out, I was able to stick mostly to salads with lean protein or more simply prepared items like the fresh grilled fish on menus. I also hit the gym daily while on the road and kept up my exercise.
My BMI is down 7 points since I started this journey, my resting heart rate is down 8 bpm, I’ve lost 24% of my body weight, my cardio fitness level is in the high range, my plantar fasciitis seems to have resolved, I breathe easier. |
Anyone making a Halloween resolution to not eat candy? I have my annual physical in 3 weeks and plan to save 2 fun size pieces for after I weigh in then. |
wow that's nothing |
