Let's lose together

Anonymous
Anyone interested in an accountability thread for weight loss? I have 10lb to lose. My plan is to do a moderate calorie restriction (~250cal) and move every day (exercise purposefully 4x/week but make sure I'm moving around every day).

I see this as a place to post healthy and enjoyable meals, links to enjoyable exercise videos or ideas, and encouragement.

I'm in! I'm a teacher, and being at home during the summer has allowed me to gain a few lbs - it's too easy to graze and snack during the day.

My goal is to workout before school in the morning, most mornings. I enjoy exercise and going to in the summer wasn't a problem, but it's just too convenient to eat whenever.

Returning to the school schedule will be more tiring, but the structure is what I need. Not diets, not restriction, just some more structure.

I'm in! A professor, whose summer likewise was a little too much snacking. I also try to work out every morning. My downfall is delicious, delicious carbs, which I must avoid to lose!

Hit me up with your tasty non-carb foods. I'm pescatarian, which makes it a little trickier, but not impossible.

I’m in! I have a big fall wedding to attend & I feel like a Hippo! I have the working out aspect down, but my diet is killing me. I find it so hard to restrict calories. I’m 30lbs overweight. Would like to lose 15 by wedding.

I’m in! I’ve lost 25 pounds since March and have 5 more until my goal weight. I’ve been stuck at this weight for a few weeks though, so I think I’m plateauing.

I’ve been doing low carb and am a vegetarian. My favorite switch is when my family orders pizza, I use a low carb tortilla and warm it up in the toaster with Rao’s marinara and some mozzarella. My own little pizza!

I’m in for two weeks. Mid-40’s, 5’4”, mid-160’s. Have a trip to Greece planned and no hopes of being bikini-ready by then, but want to at least get rid of the bloat before the trip.

I'm in too but how do we hold ourselves accountable here? Should we plan a day we post our loss/week?

Me too! I’m a SAHM of 3, and my oldest two will be back in school next week, so I’m hoping to work out during their school day 4 days a week. I’m about 10 lbs overweight but am aiming for 15-20.

What holds you accountable in general? is it the scale? is it confessing the junk you ate or the calories you injested? Is it how your pants fit?

I think each person might need to come up with motivates/inspires them, and use that to report back here.

Personally, I do care about

1) Yes, the number on my scale
2) How much my thighs touch when I'm in the shower (I started doing this at the gym a few years ago, not sure why, but looking down at how my thighs touch when I'm standing feet together. I knew I had gained some weight recently when I looked down in the shower and there was no air between them ....),
3) How my clothes fit. My favorite shorts are a bit too small right now, it's wedgie city, so trying to get back into them. And I ought a pair of jeans in my size ... but um, not my size any more!!

So, as of this morning ... 127.7. Pleased. (I'm short, and am trying to get back to 115-120)
Thighs are looking good, but they are different shapes
I'm in my middle-sized shorts right now, and the pockets are lying flat.

I'm in!

Checking in holds me accountable.

1) 2x daily glucose readings
2) Journal
3) moderate exercise daily.

I have a disability, exercise changes day to day depending on ability.

I don't want to focus on the scale, I want to focus on better habits.

I've lost over 75 pounds in the last year or so and have another 25 to go. Hoping to get there by January or February.

I care about my weight on a scale, how my clothes fit, and how I feel. I'm at 178 right no (I'm 5 ft 7), so on this last year I've gone on a journey from morbidly obese to just obese to just overweight now, and I'm trying to get down into that "normal" range still. Trying to lose about a pound a week, slow but steady.

Good luck, everyone!

Basically nothing. That's why I'm overweight.
