The posters in this thread are so inspiring! Here I am wanting to lose 15 lbs and some of you are just rocking it! Congratulations! |
NP. Grateful to find a space to talk about this journey. I’ve got 35-40 additional lbs on me since I started having kids (which was not my healthiest weight but a good initial goal). I lost 25 after my first kid but gained it back while pregnant and I have not lost any since my second arrived, just bounced the same 5 pounds around.
I’m committed to getting back into healthy habits this year. I’m done having kids so none of that is a factor moving forward. I like exercise so just need to get into a good routine, aided by sleep. food is the thing that always came last and hardest for me. Look forward to checking in from time to time. |
NP here. I started WW just over 3 weeks ago when I saw the scale hit 162 at a doctor's appointment just before Christmas. I'm 5'7 and my goal is a very reasonable 140 by April. I'm 48.
I already worked out a lot and barely drink alcohol so trimming 20 pounds really has to come down to diet. The first few pounds came off quick but I've been stuck at 155-156 for a solid week now, despite religiously sticking to the WW plan - I almost never hit the daily point allocations although I'm eating "enough" - eggs, salmon, fat free greek yogurt, fruit, vegetables. Have totally eliminated all sweets and most processed foods (I'll have a multigrain english muffin or whole wheat tortilla every now and then). Trying to stay positive, knowing that I'm eating healthier than I was before and I WILL see the results. I'd like to add more strength/weight training into my routine. |
7lbs in 3 weeks is a lot! It will keep coming off |
NP. I just had a major wake-up call. I have struggled with weight my entire life. Finally got healthy in my mid 20's and lost 85 pounds. Kept it off for 10 years. Pounds slowly crept back on in my mid 30's. At 39 I was almost back to where I started. I made a pact with myself I would get healthy again by my 40th birthday and I lost 85 lb again that year. Now I am 49 and the highest weight I have ever been. Started spiraling down in May of 2020 after sitting on my couch for 3 months during Covid and returning to in person work as a school nurse in a very needy low income school district. I put myself last and more weight piled on.
I finally found a new primary care doctor and went yesterday for a visit due to some abdominal pain for the past few weeks. My BP was 160/90 and my weight is out of control. I am having labs drawn today and abdominal ultrasound next week. I guarantee I have fatty liver at this point, possible type 2 diabetes and will have to start blood pressure meds. I am scared, angry that it got so bad, overwhelmed...but determined to make my health a priority and move more and get back to a healthy place. |
All the best to you. Its not easy! |
You know that you can do this, PP! You have done it before and you can do it again. You just need to harden your will and make the decision to start, and then keep going.
I weighed over 250 lbs a year and a half ago and now I almost 100 pounds lighter. No drugs, no crazy exercise besides walking, just regulating my diet and sticking to it even through the hard times. You have done this before and you can do it again! You can. Good luck! |
I was stuck at 158 for a month or more, maybe two! I'm now 150-151. Trying to get below 150, I just want to see that 149!!! It's taking forever. Might be stuck at 150 for a while! |
Amazing. well done |
Mid 40s 5’6” women checking in again this week. I worked really hard this week and not only budged that last pound to get to my 50lb goal, but knocked off another too! 51lbs gone. 128 today. Over 28% of my body weight gone. My resting heart rate has decreased 9 bpm, my watch says my cardio fitness has increased 8 points since I started this journey. I haven’t built my running back up since I had Covid and my asthma has been bothering which I think is an annoying lingering effect of Covid, but hopefully that will go away again.
So now I reset the goal again to 125. I was probably 15 the last time I weighed in the 120s. |
Congrats! Can you share your diet? |
I’ve shared a few times in this thread, but sure. I drink 12-20 glasses of water a day Breakfast: hot tea with cream (even pre fixing my diet I didn’t eat breakfast) Lunch: egg scramble with whatever veggies I have on hand and if I have some deli meat or prosciutto I’ll chop that and toss it in or a big salad with chopped up grilled chicken, a sprinkling of goat or blue cheese, raspberries or apple, and a drizzle of balsamic vinegar (not vinegarette). Or because it’s been cold, I have a bowl of butternut squash soup and an apple. Afternoon: cup of iced coffee with cream. Dinner: whatever I’m feeding my family, just in weighed portions. So last night we had baked chicken drumsticks, sautéed green beans, and risotto. The night before we had roasted lamb shoulder, and the same two sides. Tonight, it’s Friday, so I had a burger (no bun) with blue cheese and tater tots and a beer as we went out. Tomorrow I’m cooking grilled salmon, grilled asparagus, and couscous. After dinner: I usually have a couple of slices of manchego and some raspberries or a bowl of air popped popcorn and an apple, plus I typically have a glass or two of wine. |
Amazing! I am so inspired reading your updates. Good luck working on maintenance now and continuing recovery from COVID symptoms. |
I hope you’re feeling less scared — and able to be kind to yourself as you use your determination to get back to a healthy place. |
Mid 40s 5’6” woman checking in again. Finally budged another pound. This one took 4 weeks to go. Or I guess it’s really 1.6 lbs since I went from 128.7 to 127.1. 52+ lbs lost now. Over 29% of my body weight gone since May 1, 2022. I’m unfortunately still having lingering effects from COVID on my breathing and asthma which is really annoying to me having had no problems with my asthma since I started losing the weight. I am still having trouble getting back up to my pre Covid pace on running or really, running at all as I feel I can’t breathe deeply enough. I’ve been taking dance classes and using the elliptical at the gym instead, which is fine, but not what I want to do. |
