I go to Garret at Spalon (on 17th St, downtown). He is crazy (seriously), but he does a terrific job with curly hair. Cut & blow dry is $60. Love him!
Anyone know of any events in town (Sat day or evening) that would be fun with/for a 1 year old? Mostly I just want a place that he can run around with other kids his age & not too many scary looking hobgoblins. A few fun size Snickers for mom wouldn't hurt...
downtown DC (I both live and work there)
Does anyone know of a female primary care physician that is accepting new patients and takes blue cross blue shield insurance? I am trying to book a physical so that I have a doctor who will actually see me if I get sick, but no one seems to be accepting new patients. I had a terrible run in with GW medical faculty last year where they refused to see me after I returned ill from a trip to Africa b/c I wasn't "current" (ie, was in their records, but hadn't been in for 2+ years). Turned out I had e-coli, which I only discovered days later (5lbs lighter and limping by then, mind you) when I finally found an out of network nurse practitioner with good travel health background.

Any suggestions? I am willing to make the appointment now but not be seen for 6 weeks, I just want to get into someones system so they'll see me if I have an actual illness.

Thanks.
I can take off my stockings in the midst of the "i just got home from work, my boobs are killing me" feeding.
I've done it and it worked fine. I suspect that cabs are required to have operational backseat belts. If you have a graco, its amazingly easy to belt it in too.
I love the ones from Target, but the Columbia Heights shop just stopped stocking them (to make room for christmas bras maybe???). I wear a medium out of the house all the time (am a 34 C). While it doesn't exactly showcase my currently fantastic cleavage, its supportive enough and looks fine.
I am sifting through all the financial and other planning that I'd rather have sorted out before my baby gets here (due in Sept) and wonder what others have done about wills? We don't have any unusual circumstances, but I know I am not going to want to deal with this stuff when I have a newborn/infant/toddler/etc etc so I may as well get it done now. Any reccommendations for an estate planning lawyer downtown that will do a simple will (ie: not enough assets to be complicated)? We don't need bells and whistles, just a legal doc, so I don't want to spend a lot of money in fees.
I will have a sandwich occasionally, so long as I trust the place that's making it (ie: deli meat is fresh/ lots of customers mean there is very little time for bacteria to settle on meat etc) and I actually see them make it.

That said, peanut butter is also always a good standby.
Target actually has a pretty good selection of neutral / modern colors that may give you some good ideas. http://www.target.com/b/ref=sc_pgb_r_2_0_15812551_2/602-8163061-4491848?ie=UTF8&node=51893011
My mom is convinced that if you use lighter polishes, this is less of a problem --something a pedicurist told her once about how much light reaches your nail-bed, or something. She reminds me of this every time I show up at home with dark painted toe nails.
For those of you that used a Moses basket in your room, did you just put it on the floor? That seems like the most stable/logical place to me but maybe I am missing something.
A colleague of mine recommended Washington Pediatrics, just south of Dupont on 19th. It looks like they have open house sessions every other Thursday for expecting parents, but I haven't been yet. www.washingtonpediatric.com
Took us about 5-6 months, which seemed like forever at the time, but I hear is pretty average. Have to be honest, the OPKs made me feel like I was stupid (is this positive? its a little darker, but not much... etc etc). I found that BBT made a lot more sense -- plus I could use the charting system at fertilityfriend.com. Its a great TTC site (esp if you are big into data, which I am), but the pregnancy chat rooms are a bit on the scary side. The women posting on them seem an awful lot more judgmental than DCUM -- like you might doom your baby to a life of misery if you eat a tuna steak EVER.
