Cab ride with baby?

Anonymous
My family is going to the airport for a long trip this Thursday. We want to take a cab to the airport, but I'm a bit worried about the logistics. I've never paid attention to seatbelts, etc in cabs before. Is it pretty standard to bring a carseat and hook it up, or has anyone had trouble taking cab rides with a baby? Thanks!

I've done it and it worked fine. I suspect that cabs are required to have operational backseat belts. If you have a graco, its amazingly easy to belt it in too.

I've taken many cab rides with my son - used a Graco snugride when he was a baby and the Cosco Tote N Go when he was bigger. I've never had any problems with the seatbelts. You can let the cab company know in advance you will have a child with you if you are worried but it's not necessary. They often ask how many will be in the cab when you book it.

We usually use our own car seat (very easy to install) but several cab companies can provide carseats if you call ahead. I know Arlington Red Top does.
