female primary care physician accepting new patients?

Does anyone know of a female primary care physician that is accepting new patients and takes blue cross blue shield insurance? I am trying to book a physical so that I have a doctor who will actually see me if I get sick, but no one seems to be accepting new patients. I had a terrible run in with GW medical faculty last year where they refused to see me after I returned ill from a trip to Africa b/c I wasn't "current" (ie, was in their records, but hadn't been in for 2+ years). Turned out I had e-coli, which I only discovered days later (5lbs lighter and limping by then, mind you) when I finally found an out of network nurse practitioner with good travel health background.
Any suggestions? I am willing to make the appointment now but not be seen for 6 weeks, I just want to get into someones system so they'll see me if I have an actual illness. Thanks. |
