Private School Lacrosse Thread

Unlike some schools, GP's 2020 and 2019 classes are comprised of home grown talent and kids who have been at the school since freshman year. They don't need to poach kids from other programs.

What's homegrown talent when the school doesn't start til 9th grade? All Prep has ever done is place a heavy emphasis on sports and recruit more than anybody else in the IAC, to the point that they've been kicked out at least twice.

Let's hear the excuses.

Not a DC Express parent, but what does that prove. Box lacrosse is very different.

I think the objective is to put the ball in the other team's goal, right? Sounds kinda like field lacrosse.

Box is very physical game more like hockey...Crabs team of juniors/seniors played the DCE freshman team.

They assembled a team of all stars this past football season, comprised of several upper classmen transfers and couldn’t find a way to win the league when on paper they were the best team in the league.

GP looked extremely athletic and physical at the Landon tournament a few weeks back.

I understand Bullis was bringing in lax transfers as recently as Nov. and would not be surprised if more transfers come in the spring

The vast majority of rosters on other IAC teams have kids who enroll as freshman and are at the school for academics as well as sports for 4 yrs

Talent only gets you so far, even recruited talent. Coaching, poise and hard work are just as important. The Bullis coach has lost his mind and will probably find himself in the same spot as the old Prep coach.

Prep has a redshirted Junior playing JV soccer, he has a full beard playing JV soccer. Don't pretend Mater Dei and Prep did not invent redshirting in LAX.

Bullis has legit been offering close to full rides to the star athletes.

Not the best way to build team chemistry or build a community by bringing in one year or two year imports

By that definition, so is soccer. Don't be so ignorant.

And the same could be said for hockey and basketball, so your soccer red herring is moot. In box, the way defense is played and the tighter conditions call for more precise passing, but the objective is still the same using the same equipment used in field lacrosse.

Club lacrosse is great to play with friends and have a good time and to maybe be seen by a few college coaches. But to discuss results has if they mean a thing is ridiculous.

If it's not your school, why would you care (except for the fact that you are threatened).

And as a Bullis parent whose son was recruited for a sport, we got zero help because we did not qualify financially.

I agree with those who say this thread has run its course. The obsessions Landon/Prep parents have with Bullis has spread to this thread now.

Financial Aid is based on need. Stop with the hearsay. All schools in the IAC follow the same need based FA.

I call BS.

Bullis offers more than other schools, it’s a known fact.

Since it is a known fact, please provide proof. This thread really sucks now.

My son plays on a club team with a few Bullis kids on it and one bullis parent in particular loves to boast what schools offered him the most aid when he shopped around his son.

Guess what schoool above and beyond with FA dollars.....

The fact that this guy “shopped his son around” says a lot about him. Wouldn’t believe anything this douchebag says.

So I gather that most people assume Bullis gives out a little extra merit-based FA even to the kids that don't need it. That's fair, since it's unlikely that so many talented kids will go to a single school with $41K tuition all on need-based FA.

But, are people trying to also say that NONE of the kids at Landon or Prep get merit/talent-based aid? Because, that's stupid. Both of those schools recruit the living hell out of the club teams. I have heard (well-off) parents from both schools, as well as Bullis, boast about their son's FA packages. So what?!? Good for them.

If you don't think that ALL of the schools give a little more to the special athletes, you are being naive. They are also giving a little more to some special academic students and to some special artistic students. Even (GASP!) when they don't need it. Because the more talented kids you have, the higher your profile, the more kids apply, the better quality of kids you accept, etc.

And before all of the self righteous people start complaining, I'm not condoning it, although it's fine with me. Just letting you all know it goes on everywhere, whether you want it to or not.

Now I'd love to say "Let's talk about lacrosse", but here comes all of the denials . . .
