He's a total chucklehead, and meanwhile people were all upset over Gabby Douglas not putting her hand over her heart. Ridiculous!

I wonder what the issue was? *strokes chin thoughtfully* *what could it be*...

Gabby Douglas has had stank face the entire games. Doesn't bother me, but people are reacting to it. Sucks because girls shouldn't be expected to be sweet and smiley all the time. She's got a serious game face. No one would think about that if she were a dude.

Gabby's issue and everyone knows it is that she is not the golden child this go 'round. Simone is the Gabby of this team. Gabby has struggled to accept this. It's hard but she could've done abetted job of faking the funk than she did. From the hand not on her heart to the stank face, we all have to do things and deal with things we don't enjoy but slew can't walk around with it written across our faces. She's still young but she will learn. The last time she was he center of attention and it's hard when that attention goes to someone else.

Don't know much about Lochte or others but on the surface my impression: 4 white entitled jocks act like douchebags and embarrass the US.

And how about the Australian swimmers? Swimmers are bro-y, but that doesn't mean they should have their passports confiscated.

The last time she was picked on for how she looked. Wish folks would give her some room. She's a super athlete and not running around implicating others...

So in essence, they acted like jackasses, but the security officers didn't have a right to pull guns on them and force them to hand over money either.

I think that's what happened as well. I think the blame needs to go to the criminals vandalizing private property though. No excuse for their actions.

Here is the thing, though. While it may be technically true security didn't have "the right" to draw weapons, the swimmers were not in Rockville. They were in Rio, a place where any cash business operating at night has armed security. All Brazilians know this.

If they indeed kicked in the bathroom door, the security guys would likely taken it as a personal insult, a slap in the face. It's sort of like walking in front of a police car in, say, Rockville and taking a piss in front of the cops. It won't end well for the pisser.

“Rio de Janeiro asks Mr. Lochte to not come back to the city,” Cpl. Anderson Valentim of the Rio Military Police said. “People with bad characters are not welcome.”

I think Lochte is the least of his concerns.

The swimmers paid over $400 at gunpoint for a broken door and soap dispenser. Yes, sounds like they got robbed.

Have you ever travelled abroad? When you are a foreigner and you commit a crime or are a witness to a crime your passport can be taken to keep you from fleeing.

And I'm sure you'd think it was just all bro-y if a group of male Mexican visiting athletes smashed up the bathroom at your local Exxon station.

I just saw the video and I can see how a drunk Lochte would get some details confused. I did look like he kicked the door in but it wasn't a huge kick or anything breaking mirrors spray painting etc.

I've actually used my feet numerous times in rest stops to open doors and honestly this is what it looked like.

The video then shows the guys being asked out of the video and taken to the side of the store all while their hands up. You see the swimmers grab wallets and hand over money then they are back in the ground all forced to sit with hands up.

Because you know how much it cost to replace a commercial door and soap dispenser including labor--not to mention the fact that they would have done jail time in America for such a crime.

I'd say they got off easy.

What is it then? If you're so smart why don't you go ahead and take us all to school?

I don't understand why they made up the robbery story. Why was it necessary to say anything at all? Why did they need to make up a cover story? We wouldn't have known about this incident if they hadn't said anything to begin with.

In Rio? Be real. This was a shakedown.
