They didn't trash the bathroom, and the "police" held guns at them & wouldn't let them leave until they paid them money.

Lochte is a tool- but there was no way that this story was true by Brazil's version. Many many countries - including Brazil- are run by corrupt people and this kind of events are normal- fortunately the swimmers were obviously olympic athletes, they had money to get them off their backs. They easily could have been some blip in another death - I would say if the spotlight had not been on Rio/brazil however a coach was killed during the Olympics so there goes that. You simply cannot compare how the US handles these issues with other countries such as Brazil.

My issue is less about how Brazil handled the situation. I would expect them to be corrupt and inept. The American press are the villains here. I really hate the media.

He's home. If he doesn't go back to Brazil, and why would anyone want to, he can carry on as if nothing happened.

It's sad that this is the story that carries on after the Olympics.

Yep, just lost all of his endorsements and could run into issues traveling abroad now.

Lochte's attorney says he is already back in the US and has no plans to return for follow up questioning.

Do you think the account was made up? I can't figure out a motive, and think it's odd that FOUR individuals would be in on a false account. At the same time it seems quite coincidental that out of all of the athletes, this happened to Lochte.

Lochte lost 4 sponsors but picked up a brand new one on the same day the others dropped him. He will be fine.

There are very few countries that would want to be bothered getting involved in extraditing someone for peeing outdoors and tearing down a paper poster.

I'm sure he can freely travel the world, just not go back to Brazil - no big loss.

Lochte is scraping the bottom of the barrel.

His latest endorsement:

He is such an idiot.

I think it's Brazil that's scraping the bottom of the barrel. Their senate is voting to impeach their president on some pretty flimsy stuff. This paragraph from the LA Times is fitting:

Rousseff's popularity plummeted as the economy tanked in her second term and she lost the support of Congress, many members of which have their own legal troubles. At least 60% of the senators that will vote this week are facing charges of corruption or other serious crimes.

They are just lousy with corruption.

Lochte has been banned from competitive swimming for ten months and also from taking part in the World Championship next year.

He got off light ......... should have been banned for much longer.
