No word from DOJ, anyone?

I'm interested in the answer to this as well. I interviewed for a DOJ position recently and still haven't heard anything back.

DOJ is still analyzing the effect. I have an accepted job offer, and they said they will get back to me with whether the freeze applies.

Any updates, anyone?

My EOD for start date of 2/6/2017 has been put on hold till a determination is made if the position is mission critical . I was advised not to give notice to current employer (which I did not assuming this mess is going to come to fruition) FYI this is for a IT position with USDA.

I know, I keep checking back here every few minutes. It seems like the only place there's any info at all. I called my HR contact yesterday, and they didn't answer. I'm sure they're swamped, but I'm on tenterhooks!

How secure is this? What kinds of machines can I use to provide info to this?

I wouldn't use your work computer or internet...

Ugh. Doesn't bode well for me. I'd accepted the offer--also with USDA--but hadn't been given an EOD date yet. Doubt my position (writer/editor) can be spun into mission critical. (Although good writing is ALWAYS critical! Haha.)

Does anyone know if these offers could be honored after the freeze is lifted? That is, we tread water in current jobs for three months, and then they bring us on? Or will everything have to be re-competed?

It is the only place with info right now, for all of us who are waiting.
Looks like the agencies are trying to figure it out. Anyone who hears anything, please post!!!!

No one knows for sure how long the freeze will go. If the cert has not expired, it is likely they will still use it (it is less work for them and they really are looking to get people onboard efficiently). I know most HR people were working day and night to get people onboarded before the 19th.

Keep in touch with the hiring officials. If they do end up having to repost, they may be able to send you a note so you can watch for it (I know I have done that I. the past).

My DH heard something similar as others from DoD - that hirings in-process won't be halted.

From FEDSOUP's forum:

"Official as of this morning January 25, 2017:

DoD is under a hiring freeze. Per OSD direction: It applies to all prospective employees who had not entered onto duty as of 12 noon, January 22, 2017. It further applies to appointments of current Federal employees from other agencies into the DoD or a Military Department; appointments of current Federal employees moving between or within the DoD and a Military Department or between Military Departments; and reassignments or promotions of current Federal employees within any organization of the DoD or a Military Department. And it applies regardless of the status of any preexisting hiring discussions, tentative offers, or steps in preparation for a firm offer (such as drug testing or security investigations)."

If this is actually DOD's guidance, I'm sure most other agencies will do the same.

Not cool.

The person who summarized this was not very clear. They say that it applies to "all prospective employees who had not entered onto duty as of 12 noon, January 22, 2017." Then it says it applies regardless of steps in preparation for a firm offer. There are a lot of people who have a firm offer and a start date (say, Jan. 30). But they did not EOD on Jan. 22, 2017. So is the poster saying that if they had a firm offer before Jan. 22 but had not started, they are out of luck?

I see what you're saying, but my interpretation is that if you were not physically in the seat as of Jan 22, you/we would indeed be out of luck.

What about the people who EOD'd Monday morning before the Memorandum was signed?
