Did it happen? I've seen conflicting reports.

no idea because the wh is not posting exec orders

They are announcing them though. I haven't heard about a freeze yet. I expect to hear about it this week though.

The only thing I have heard so far is a regulatory freeze. Nothing on hiring yet.

Not yet. I've been keeping tabs closely. The only substantive ones so far are - EO freezing all new regulation; EO to "reduce the burden" of Obamacare; EO re FHA mortgage insurance; EO re Patriots Day. The rest are just appointments/commissions for his cabinet positions.

Haven't seen the actual EOs - but keeping track of the reporting of what they're signing.

In seeing 1 article that says Reince Prebius sent a memo to agencies to freeze new regulation and enact a hiring freeze. So did the sneak the hiring freeze in the EO re regulation? Or is there some separate memo and what's the enforceability of a memo from Reince?? Why don't they post this $hit?

Does anyone know, if the paperwork was submitted to HR prior to the hiring freeze can I still be hired or do I have to wait until the hiring freeze ends? And if I have to wait can I still get the paper work now and just wait until the hiring freeze is over to start? I've basically been offered the job by the department head and have been told the paperwork was submitted and to just wait to hear from HR. Someone told me since the papers were submitted it doesn't matter that there was a hiring freeze but I'm not sure that's correct.

I thought the oath you take on the 1st day is what makes you official, no? Presumably paperwork gets submitted to HR a long time in advance, HR does whatever it does/coordinates with whoever gets you a clearance, then the clearance comes through and you get your final offer and start date, then you start and take the oath. I thought the process could stop anywhere for a freeze except after you've taken the oath bc then you're in.

Would the hiring freeze extend to positions such as fellows or interns? (Paid ones)

I saw the same information, but am not seeing it anywhere else.

The Federal Register does not show all the EOs we know he signed, perhaps it's only updated on weekdays though? The one that's there is about civil service, but from my (non-legal background) scan, I don't see that it specifies a freeze. https://www.federalregister.gov/

Our Department told all the agencies to stop moving forward with hiring as of last Thursday; I guess we'll find out what they say this morning.

Maybe they'll update this part of the White House website eventually....
