Ugh. Doesn't bode well for me. I'd accepted the offer--also with USDA--but hadn't been given an EOD date yet. Doubt my position (writer/editor) can be spun into mission critical. :(  (Although good writing is ALWAYS critical! Haha.)

Does anyone know if these offers could be honored after the freeze is lifted? That is,  we tread water in current jobs for three months, and then they bring us on? Or will everything have to be re-competed?[/quote]

No one knows for sure how long the freeze will go. If the cert has not expired, it is likely they will still use it (it is less work for them and they really are looking to get people onboard efficiently). I know most HR people were working day and night to get people onboarded before the 19th.

Keep in touch with the hiring officials. If they do end up having to repost, they may be able to send you a note so you can watch for it (I know I have done that I. the past).
