Nope. First hand knowledge and not hearsay. Keep on drinking the club kool-aid... |
This is not true. I can't figure out what you're trying to accomplish. |
A school of second chances. No harm in that. Deride Bullis all you want. But their athletes go on to some great colleges. This raises their profile. Benefits the nonathletes too. Have you been on campus lately. Amazing resources. Lost of new buildings/space. Keep up the great work, Bullis. Don't let the haters get you down. |
Are you an Express parent or coach? I've heard this too. |
They have been saying this now for a few years and yet except for one team, not too much to show for all the hype. Please tell me how man past Performance players which is now DC Express that has made D1 lacrosse teams? VLC, Madlax, FCA and Crabs have sent the majority of D1 players from this area. Until Performance/DC Express starts having a list of current players that are moving on to D1 schools for lacrosse, all the hype is just that, hype. |
Well, considering this is only the team's second year in the area, there is no way they have been saying that for years. I have no affiliation with this team, other than knowing who plays on the 2021 and what they accomplished last year. Whether it keeps up is the question. That 2021 team was already a top team in youth club leagues when in it was a BLC team. All credit should go to whoever the dad was that coached them there. I would bet that now that here has been so much shake up, they will not be as good. That team was good because they had decent players who played together for years and years (trust me, I know--that dad would not permit outsiders on that team, which for a non-profit club was pretty frustrating and downright nasty). Once they all go their separate ways, they may not prove as strong as individuals. |
So when is a good time to put pressure on a kid to learn to compete? To understand that for the things worth having and achieving your goals, you have to put in the work? That this is A level club lacrosse, not rec - nobody forced anyone to come out and sign up. Do you honestly think that somehow things get easier in life as you get older? If your son got cut, sit down with them and have an honest conversation. Did they really work hard enough to improve their game, put in the time, etc. Some kids are out there playing more for their parents than their own desire, it's obvious. Somehow, somewhere there needs to be a drive to be successful - and it needs to come from them. The quote "every player has the will to win, but very few have the will to prepare to win" holds true. My son is a rising sophomore and plays for an "A" level club. He has close friends who play what you could characterize as "B" level clubs. The difference? He's on the wall, practicing shooting, doing drills on his own, hitting the gym, etc. etc. while his friends are playing XBOX and computer games. I know cause I drive him all over God's creation so he can put in the time. His friends try out every year for the A club he is on and don't make it ... and their parents ask me why. I tell them you're talking about A club level ball - these kids want to play Division I. They're putting in the work daily. Is your son? They already know the answer. |
| I hate the idea of all these kids throwing away their childhoods in pursuit of a division 1 college sport. It is not worth it. And they miss so much. But they and their parents get to boast about their "A level club," so I guess its worth it. |
DC Express dads are the strongest guys on the Internet. 2021 is a great team with loudmouth parents, but the rest of the club is garbage. |
Wrong. When it comes to lacrosse or any sport, it's the players and their talent, not the coach, who ultimately decides how good a team is. That team has a number of great players and athletes (and reclassed kids). But no shock they split apart going into HS. They were never going to stay together with kids at different HS that had been tied together by a rec league. There are kids at Landon, Prep, Bullis and several other HS, and there are affiliations that come along with those schools in some cases. RIP DC Express 2021. |
This is wrong. There's a handful of people on every strong team that are grinding in pursuit of D1. But most of the kids even at the stronger clubs are there because they really enjoy the game in my experience. |
Do not disagree. To add to your point, there are a lot of kids also pursuing the D3 dream. No $, but an admissions helping hand and a great school/sports balance. |
You must be a treat at parties. Signed, Parent of A team player |
| I think I am married to PP. Woe is me. |
Which clubs picked up the DCE 2021 players? |
