Agree. The club owners will likely elevate a B team player to the A team over an outsider. They will also view your son, without another club behind his name, with a lot of doubt, even without seeing him play. I personally think playing for a B team for a powerhouse program is better than playing for an "A" team for a lesser known club. But if being on the "A" team is the goal, regardless of coaching, development, etc., there are many other clubs out there. I don't want to name names, but if you do your research you'll figure out who these clubs are. It's a for-profit business after all, and there are a lot of clubs who will gladly take your money. |
Oh, if only we could all emulate your parenting style. It must be winning. |
...including DC Express. It's really is a lot of hype that parents buy into. They will gladly take your money. |
You are crazy. There is a good (not great) player here or there on those crappy Madlax MDVA teams, but come on, it's lack of talent, not depth. Those kids are not "waltzing" onto any public school program., let alone almost all private school teams. Are you insane? |
Yep. But the biggest scam jobs are the ones WITH the B teams. Because those B teams are not only terrible, but are there just for extra money for the for-profit club. |

Some kids would rather play on the "b team" than not play at all...
There's nothing wrong about charging families to play club lacrosse as long as the clubs: - clearly state what the costs are in an upfront and honest way... - are honest about what they are providing in terms of instruction and player development... - provide enough coaching staff, especially during tournaments... |
Except the majority of the kids on these B teams are new to the sport (and their parents are as well). So these clubs are taking advantage of families who don't know the ropes yet. And we know the biggest club in the for-profit world that treats its customer with the most disdain and poor service. Just google them. |
With 2-3 exceptions in NOVA, and 2-3 exceptions in MoCo, public school lacrosse is dismal. I hope this changes. I believe DC Express is attracting kids from the MoCo publics. So the rise of DCE might also mean the rise of MoCo lacrosse. My son played "B" team for Madlax for 5 years. He got better. He played varsity. Every member of his B team in high school also played on their varsity teams. Many started, especially for the publics. Some also went on to play in college. |
DC Express demoted at least 6 players I know of to its B team. My nephew's VLC team cut a dozen players outright. This is too much pressure for 9th graders. What's the point? |
| There were several DC Express players who did not return. They are having trouble filling spots. And, no it is not difficult to make the club A or B. |

#Fakenews on kids leaving DC Express
Best talent in DMV is flocking to DC Express and you will soon see results.... |
Did they tryout for other clubs? If so, that could be the beginning of the end for what should be DCE's best team. |
| I don't know except owners reaching out to folks. |
