No. He played for 2021 last year.
Is it true that there has been some movement both into and off the DC Express's heralded 2021 team after the recent tryouts?
Yes, some kids tried out from other clubs. So some kids on that 2021 team have been moved to the B team. Big change for those kids compared to what they saw last year.
I know that 3D players are now on that team. Probably some of the best from 3D. Did any Madlax or Crabs or VLC or Next Level kids make it?
DC Express demoted at least 6 players I know of to its B team. My nephew's VLC team cut a dozen players outright. This is too much pressure for 9th graders. What's the point?
So when is a good time to put pressure on a kid to learn to compete? To understand that for the things worth having and achieving your goals, you have to put in the work? That this is A level club lacrosse, not rec - nobody forced anyone to come out and sign up. Do you honestly think that somehow things get easier in life as you get older? If your son got cut, sit down with them and have an honest conversation. Did they really work hard enough to improve their game, put in the time, etc. Some kids are out there playing more for their parents than their own desire, it's obvious. Somehow, somewhere there needs to be a drive to be successful - and it needs to come from them. The quote "every player has the will to win, but very few have the will to prepare to win" holds true. My son is a rising sophomore and plays for an "A" level club. He has close friends who play what you could characterize as "B" level clubs. The difference? He's on the wall, practicing shooting, doing drills on his own, hitting the gym, etc. etc. while his friends are playing XBOX and computer games. I know cause I drive him all over God's creation so he can put in the time. His friends try out every year for the A club he is on and don't make it ... and their parents ask me why. I tell them you're talking about A club level ball - these kids want to play Division I. They're putting in the work daily. Is your son? They already know the answer.
You must be a treat at parties. Signed, Parent of A team player
