I mean, this was by and large a CYA move and nothing more. If they kept the baby (…or abandoned it in the woods) they would have been hunted down and gone to prison and they know it. It’s less touching/heartwarming and more a sign that they’re not absolute idiots |
NP here. I read that in the comments of the Washingtonian problems insta page. I think it is in this particular post. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1vV3uBRXM6/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== |
Sorry, but it didn’t. It’s a Federal requirement that it stays running with no fob for safety reasons as long as it is in drive or left in park for 30 mins or longer. |
If multiple people commit a crime, it is very hard to get a conviction. I was on a jury and found this out because our case involved one main guy, but then another guy showed up, so reasonable doubt goes into question. I was so disturbed about this and looked it up. I’m sure criminals know this. DA’s certainly do. |
AGREED! |
God, you must be Swiss. I agree she had a total brain fart, but that is different from kidnapping. Blaming the victim is awful. Leave that family ALONE. |
+ umptillion The Mayors latest newsletter has mini grants to reduce crime in your neighborhood. That was the ONLY mention of crime. Just unbelievable. "The Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (ONSE) invites residents to learn more about and apply for funding offered through the Violence Intervention Initiative. The initiative supports residents in reducing gun-related violence through innovative methods. ONSE will be seeking creative and impactful proposals that address the root causes of violence, promote community engagement, and foster a safer and more resilient environment. ONSE will host two information sessions this month for residents to learn more about the mini-grants before they apply. Residents can attend the information sessions through the links below: Virtual Information Session One: Thursday, January 18 @ 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. tinyurl.com/3sw9tkp6 Virtual Information Session Two: Friday, January 19 @ 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. tinyurl.com/3etm9v97 Visit HERE to register for either or both sessions." |
This is exactly what we were told at Frumin's "safety meeting". Maybe by YOU. WTF don't they have to explain how their prints came to be in a vehicle that is not theirs? How about if their prints are found in ANOTHER vehicle that's not theirs, we say "that's QUITE a coincidence" and throw them in jail? Tween/teen carjackers are obviously taking advantage of 'the benefit of the doubt' on repeat. Law makers and prosecutors need to address this. |
where were you when it turned off? in the middle of the road while car was moving? |
Yeah, true. I’m not saying they are heroes but that baby was so terribly vulnerable from the moment mom left her in the car alone to the moment the person in the house in SE answered the door. It just blows my mind all that could have happened in between. I’m glad the thieves didn’t abandon the car with the baby in it or leave the baby in some isolated area. |
The best way I can put it is that they are criminals, they’re not monsters. I’m glad they returned the baby but this whole situation is messed up. |
Not surprising DC has such a crime problem if carjacking and kidnapping an infant is considered a heartwarming story. |
If citizens start shooting back? |
| Will the perps be caught and charged with kidnapping? |
Does DC catch any of these criminals? Bowser and her ilk do not seem to care. |
