Have you written/called the Mayor, Council and AG to change the laws and prosecution rates? Gone to a safety forum and expressed this? They heard a lot about restorative justice and defunding police just 4 years ago, and changed policies accordingly. You will have to be equally loud. It won't just "happen".

The 1993 carjacking law is still on the books but needs to be charged and laws lessening penalties for juveniles need a new look.

Politicians continue to be deluged by activists from DC Justice Lab, ACLU and others pushing a decarceral agenda. They show up at hearings in matching shirts, even fly people in to fill seats. Citizens need to be louder.

Georgetown at rush hour would have seemed safe enough to get gas, to me, too.

Praying the baby will be found safe.

Everyone please keep your doors locked at all times.

There's not a gas station in that block is there?

There used to be a gas station located on M where it intersects with Key Bridge...

The event happened outside a candle/perfume store, not at a gas station.

Is the new new crime bill introduced by Pinto a major improvement? I saw that Charles Allen was supporting it, so I was skeptical it was anything more than a “cya” bill.

I take it as a start? Better than nothing? I would keep up the pressure and let the Council know this is the beginning of righting all their wrongs. They've brought this city to the brink of destruction. Well, over the brink if we are being honest.

Every time this thread gets bumped I wonder if they arrested the teens who stole the jeep. Guess not yet...

How about the guys in the grey vehicle rampaging up and down Connecticut? How about the Wegmans armed robbers? Id like followup. I get crime alerts (which are terrifying). I think they do publicize arrests, but the fact is, there aren't any.

They caught at least three of the Wegmans armed robbers. I'm going to guess that they've already been released, even if they were charged with the crime:

Every time this thread gets bumped, I wonder if there are criminal charges for the parent. I guess not yet there either.

At least one person was arrested for Wegman's armed robbery the same day (adult). They were tracked by helicopter.

Is there ANY jurisdiction doing this?

For criminal neglect?

Yes. Yes, there are.
