how much oatmeal do you eat in one serving?

Anonymous
I just started making this recipe this week. This is what I have been doing and it's very filling for me.

https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/overnight-oats-3416659

1/3 cup liquid dairy milk
1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

1/3 cup yogurt
1 teaspoon chia seeds

1/2 banana

Anonymous
I eat 1/2 cup of raw gluten free instant oats mixed with some salt and 2 scoops of norcal peanut powder, top it off with 2-3 cups of steaming hot water , cover and let set an hour, coffee 2 cups with 1 cup of flaxmilk w/protein--that is 340 calories with 26 grams of protein--since I switched to this way less hungry and went from 155 to 144

If I ate as much oatmeal and additions as you, op, I'd have a terrible stomach ache.

Holy cow PP - that is a lot of food. Are you male or female? Or are you an athlete? also how old are you?

NP and that is a normal amount of food. Stop shaming someone for being healthy. Constantly dieting and limiting yourself is bad for you mentally and physically.

No that's not a normal amount of food. Stop trying to justify being overweight.

Well, I’m a size 4 - 5’6” 135lb. My apologies that some of us are active and can handle eating more than our toddlers.

You do realize that oats are gluten free to begin with? I do recall when Quaker, which at one time sold a bagged 1 lb version of old fashioned oats for $1.09, suddenly plastered "Gluten Free!" on the package and raised the price to $3.29. I switched to bulk rolled oats at a natural foods grocery I also shop at.

Me, I put water in a bowl and shake some oatmeal on it, I think probably a half cup oats. I do add a small pat of butter and a small splash of maple syrup. I use the microwave, and figured out that if I cook at full power for 3 minutes, then wait a minute or so and cook at 60% power for 2 and a half minutes, I get the creamiest rolled oats and they are actually a little sweeter tasting by themselves. I cook it in a 1 quart pyrex bowl (I have some of those old white glass bowls I've found at thrift stores) so it doesn't boil over in the microwave.

I make 1 cup raw oatmeal + 1.75 cups milk + 1 tbsp brown sugar + 1/8 tsp salt + 1/8 tsp vanilla + 1/3 cup ground walnuts.

For me it’s about 3 servings, and I eat it with pecans and fruit. My 3 year old eats it plain and can eat it in 2 servings. That kid loves oatmeal.

As in you eat 2 breakfasts daily? Or you eat one or the other of these options?

Yes I do, but the GF ones are theoretically made in a place where there can be no cross contamination.

Actually I would bet I'm more active than you, you just have a much bigger appetite.

1/3 cup but I make a whole cup and divide it into 3 breakfasts. I just reheat it and add nuts and berries.

I cook a half cup of dry whole oats and use 1 cup of liquid (about a quarter cup of milk and 3/4 water). I top with a lot of blueberries and maybe 1/4 tsp. of raw sugar and usually have a banana too. Sometimes I'll have a plain yogurt with more berries before lunch.

But, I could eat any amount of oatmeal that you put in front of me - I love it.

And I'm kind of like the poster above who could easily eat two healthy breakfasts, two small lunches and dinner. I am an average sized person. (5'4, about 115 or so). Not everyone needs the same amount of food to maintain a healthy weight. I eat more than my DH who weighs twice as much as I do. The women in his family seem to subsist on wine, dinner, and a few other bites of food here and there. I need to bring my own snacks when we visit them lol.

I eat 1/2 cup cooked in a cup of water. I mix in Pb2 and sometimes some fruit. I would LOVE a whole cup cooked, I love oatmeal and it would fill me up more, but I'm overweight as it is. 2tbsp would not fill me up at all. Neither one one egg. Or one cup of yogurt. These small breakfasts my friends have...I couldn't do it!

I would eat oatmeal every single day multiple times a day if I could. I love oatmeal.
One cup of water 2/3 cup gluten free quick oats. I can no longer eat regular oats.
Instant kind with fruit 2 packs but only if I don't have gluten free.
We're humans not birds. EAT !
Oatmeal goes right through you. It's like free food.

I'm 50 F, I'm 5'7, 138 lbs. The meals all are small. Lunches are mainly lean protein and veg.

I'm the pp you're referring to. I weigh 138 at 5'7. Not an athlete. Daily walker and frequent hiker, though.

I eat 2 breakfasts each day, at 5:30am and 9am. Lunches at 11 and 2. A snack at 4 if I'm hungry. Dinner at 5pm and nothing more til morning. I have reflux, which acts up if I go to bed with food in my stomach.
