I tend to measure 1/3 of a cup raw and cook that with double the amount of milk (or sometimes vanilla protein drink). Add half a cup of berries and just a few chopped walnuts/almonds.

I am NOT a small person, but that fills me up.

Raw! I measure out one cup, put in two cups of water, and cook it. 1/3 of a cup fills you up? Can I ask how much you eat for lunch or dinner? I usually have a sandwich or leftovers for lunch, and a normal dinner.

One cup raw! That's 2-3 servings.

40g usually, 80g when I workout more than 75 min

I like to eat three flakes of steel-cut oats mixed with sparkling water and three drops of raspberry juice. This hearty meal fills me up for 3 days! Anything more is just piggery.

1/2 cup quick oats raw. Mix in frozen blueberries, cinnamon and tiny bit of maple syrup.

I make my porridge with 1/2 cup oats cooked in 1 cup milk. I usually drizzle maple syrup on. Yum!

I make one cup of steel cut oats (dry) with 4 cups of water and divide that into 4 servings.

I eat a half cup, and add chia for protein and brown sugar for taste. I also have yogurt with berries and that usually tides me over till lunch.

1/2-3/4c (uncooked) made with butter and salt. I like an egg on the side. I rarely eat breakfast so this is more of an occasional mid morning meal

1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1/2 cup almond milk, 1/2 cup water. Then I add 2tsp ground flaxseed, a few walnuts, raisins and cinnamon.

1/2 cup raw + 1 cup water, because that's what it tells me on the Trader Joe's bag

I do mix in some fruit and chopped nuts and don't always finish it.

oatmeal does not fill me up at all unless it is multiple bowls with bananas, apples, nuts, etc.

I am 5'1" and 120 pounds.

I prefer to put a teaspoon of raw into my smoothie. That fills me up and, er, keeps me moving.

Unclutch your pearls. One cup dry is maybe 350 calories. Even if you cook with some milk and add a bit of sugar or fruit it may be a 500 calorie breakfast which is perfectly appropriate.

I measure out 60 grams, which is 2 servings of 1/3 cup each. Mix it with water. It’s a lot but I eat this daily after a hard workout along with a green smoothie. I am very slim, but have high cholesterol and am trying to lower it with oatmeal.

This is OP - this conversation has been elucidating. This morning I had 3/4 cup of oatmeal (dry, with 1.5 cups of water, a ton of blueberries, a dash of salt, and a sprinkle of brown sugar) and it seemed like enough. But it probably won't feel that way for long. I'm sure by the end of the week I will be back to my one full cup.

I think I am just a volume eater - I need a quantity of food to feel satisfied. Luckily I have pretty healthy taste in food - but, like, I'd never be a "one square of good dark chocolate for dessert" person - if I am eating dessert, I am EATING DESSERT. (I rarely eat dessert.)

I guess at the end of the day, of all the things to gorge on, oatmeal is hardly one to worry about. (I didn't open this thread because I was worried; just curious! Also so surprised by my friend's two tablespoons, and how it compared to my GIANT BOWL!)
