Nope. 1 cup of dry old fashioned Quaker Oats is 300 calories. Cook in a cup of 2 % milk and a cup of water for 125 calories. Add two teaspoons of sugar (16 calories each) and half cup of blueberries (30 calories). Roughly 500 calories! |
| I eat 2/3-3/4 cup with some yogurt and frozen blueberries. Could eat 1 cup. |
A lot of people have some really disordered thinking around food. That’s not a lot of food. 1/2 cup oatmeal - 150 calories Milk and tsp of sugar in coffee - maybe 40 calories 2 eggs - 160 calories 1 slice wheat toast - 130 calories 1/2 tablespoon of butter - 50 calories Banana - 100 calories That’s 630 calories. About 800 if you have two pieces of toast with butter. Nothing crazy for someone even moderately active. |
You don’t know anything about that person. Maybe they are underweight. Maybe they do a lot of weight training. I usually eat about 700 calories for breakfast and probably weigh less than you do. |
| So many eating disordered broads here. Who looks at a big bowl of OATMEAL as some gluttonous binge? |
| Thanks for opening up this thread! I love oatmeal and got some really good ideas here. Especially the person who puts a little bit of raw oatmeal into the smoothies. That might just be the trick to my smoothies keeping me fuller longer. |
| 1/4 cup of dry oatmeal (rolled oats not instant) and I cook mine in water, which horrified my coworker. But I like it! |
What else would you cook oatmeal in? |
I cook mine in half water half whole milk |
| I eat none because I find it gross. Slop, gruel. I'd rather wait 5 hours and have a nice meal than eat oatmeal. |
How can you eat 3 flakes in one sitting?! If I have more than 1, I feel overstuffed. |
| About a half cup cooked, with berries, coconut flakes and/or almonds. |
I should add that I’m not a huge breakfast person or oatmeal fan. |
Most people prefer milk and find cooking it in water gross. |
| I eat oatmeal for dinner, not breakfast. For me breakfast is coffee, yogurt, fruit. |
