I eat 1/2 cup of raw gluten free instant oats mixed with some salt and 2 scoops of norcal peanut powder, top it off with 2-3 cups of steaming hot water , cover and let set an hour, coffee 2 cups with 1 cup of flaxmilk w/protein--that is 340 calories with 26 grams of protein--since I switched to this way less hungry and went from 155 to 144
You do realize that oats are gluten free to begin with? I do recall when Quaker, which at one time sold a bagged 1 lb version of old fashioned oats for $1.09, suddenly plastered "Gluten Free!" on the package and raised the price to $3.29. I switched to bulk rolled oats at a natural foods grocery I also shop at. Me, I put water in a bowl and shake some oatmeal on it, I think probably a half cup oats. I do add a small pat of butter and a small splash of maple syrup. I use the microwave, and figured out that if I cook at full power for 3 minutes, then wait a minute or so and cook at 60% power for 2 and a half minutes, I get the creamiest rolled oats and they are actually a little sweeter tasting by themselves. I cook it in a 1 quart pyrex bowl (I have some of those old white glass bowls I've found at thrift stores) so it doesn't boil over in the microwave.
