Why are the other ethnicities listed but European Americans are forbidden from having an identity?

This is why some people say white people are clueless. Look at the list. These are all small groups and/or under represented groups in business as well as in government. DNC is trying to bring a voice to these under represented groups. White people as a whole are NOT under represented in either business or government. They are not excluding white people as a whole. They are represented in the bolded groups.

And white people are not "forbidden" to have an identity. It's not against the law to display your Irish/British/Italian flag. I've seen plenty of them waving around, displayed on cars, homes... whatever. What is frowned upon by most people is being part of a group that hates non white people and/or wants to kick them out/stop them from immigrating/cleave a part of the US for only white people (ie, white nationalists).

So whites are only allowed to celebrate their ethnicity but not their race? By this logic, shouldn't blacks be limited to celebrating their Congo/Chad/Nigerian ancestry?

Oh, do most black Americans whose ancestors came here before 1860 know the ethnic background of their African ancestors who were forced to come here as slaves? Do most African Americans have last names that refer back to their ethnic background? Please tell us, how will most black Americans be able to pinpoint their Congo/Chad/Nigerian ancestry? Are you suggesting the US government pay for DNA tests or pay to do geneological research on all all American slaves, so that their descendants can know what their origins are?

Most black Americans have a good chunk of European ancestry in their DNA.

When people start agitating for x group first rather than the country as a whole it leads to breakup.

Some that were clearly multi ethnic were: British (the Island of Britian is made up of 3 nations, plus you have Northern island, and the former commonwealth nations around the world), Austro-Hungarian, etc.

Clearly distinct nations are often born out of these Empires, and former territories with separate cultures, identities, and often languages too. We only need to look back to last century to see some examples after Empires fell: see Iraq (with several nations inside), Yugoslavia, and the former Russian empire after the breakup of the USSR.

I personally grew up in a very Jewish location outside NYC (my private school was half jewish, we had a rabbinical college in our town etc). I can tell if someone is Jewish often by mannerisms as well as looks unless their family has heavily outmarried (which most jews are doing today), but most people don't have this experience.

The current US population is about 61% non-hispanic white. That is a HUGE demographic change in just 30 years of nearly 30%!

I stated on this forum that some white people are scared about the fact that they will become minorities and was told by some poster that it was liberal BS that the media was pushing. Even so, most minorities do not think white people should be ashamed to be white or celebrate their heritage as long as it's not hateful. Are there those who do feel this way? Sure, as there are white people who are hateful and racist and think if you are black then you are inferior. Opposite sides of the same coin.
