Worst Customer Experience Awards

Anonymous
In your opinion, which companies have you had the worst customer service/experiences? I'm not just talking crappy attitudes of the employees but actual bad experiences with service.

My most recent bad experiences are with Mint Mobile and Pottery Barn. Both companies have very polite reps, but they flat out lie about expectations they can meet. I dropped Mint because their wait times to speak with a representative are way too long, and when you finally get someone, you get passed around and have to retell your issues to each rep because they don't take notes for the next person to read. I was also told that a ticket had been logged to address a problem I was having, only to find out days later that there was no ticket.

Pottery Barn is, amongst other things, flat-out disorganized. After waiting almost a year, they delivered my couch. A few days later, they called to schedule the delivery of my couch again. I had to make multiple calls to stop the delivery of a second couch.

I ordered an outdoor chair from CB2. The chair frame came regular Fedex, in a box. The cushions, however, got sent separately via a freight carrier.

Mark and Graham. My son purchased a weekender bag (see similar below) for me for Christmas. A few days after Christmas, I called to exchange the bag. Too big to fit under the seat on an airplane and it was off white canvas (ugh). BTW, it was not monogrammed, but because it had been on sale, no returns, exchanges etc. These people suck and I will never buy from again EVER!

Your son bought you a final sale bag and you're mad at the company?

That’s not really fair to say, if it was in fact a clearance item.

That’s on your son, not the company. While it’s unfortunate that your son’s choice of a gift didn’t suit you, it’s extremely common for many stores to have similar policies for sale and clearance items. Perhaps you could have a family chat about reading the fine print, rules applying to everyone, and stuff like that.

Verizon. Specifically the residential repair side. I had a horrible experience with a home repair person and could not reach anyone to tell them about it. The job was not completed correctly the first time, and I had to set up a second repair appointment. When I finally reached a human to make the second repair appointment, I explicitly requested that Someone other than the first repairman be sent to my home. I could not believe it when the original guy showed up. They must outsource all their repair work and there is no apparent quality control or local oversight of repair people.

Any of the newspaper subscription services that allow you to sign up online, but require you to call customer service to cancel. When you finally get through, the poor customer services reps. must continually try to talk you out of canceling. If you can subscribe online you should be able to cancel online.

Lol. So, what does that say about POC? That they can’t afford nice chairs? How ignorant (and racist) of you.
