She was team whatever, but she loathes my ex now: she’s seen how manipulative and unstable he is. She liked him a lot when we were married (he’s very charming, on a superficial level, and handsome, which is why it was so difficult for me to get people to believe and support me when I left.)

That’s a shame she didn’t help you to keep the kids with you when you had to send them to him.


I think she has a lot of regret for not having done more.

Perhaps OP should have titled the thread Update rather than AMA. But it is absolutely interesting when someone who was in despair comes back with a positive outcome.


That’s so nice of you to say. I was so alone and in despair, and I certainly didn’t feel that anyone on DCUM (nor in real life!) had my back. With regard to my personal life when I was posting, you can bet that you’ll determine who your true friends are when you fall on hard times.

I didn’t live on a farm nor was I a farmer. My very good friend and her husband operate a sustainable, organic farm in the area.

They split when I was a toddler, but had a pretty close co-parenting relationship. They’re both high-functioning dysfunctional people, if that makes sense: professional and high-earning, but emotionally stunted.
