Why do you think Hamas needs to be eliminated?
The only power plant supplying electricity to the Gaza Strip was knocked out of commission by Israeli shelling, deputy director of the energy authority in the Palestinian territory said Tuesday. Israel is systematically and clinically destroying Gaza's civilian infrastructure. The shelling of the only power plant in Gaza and subsequent fires have rendered it useless.

By tonight the majority of the people of Gaza will be without electricity..slowly their means of communication with the outside world are being shut down.

“Gaza's sole power plant has stopped working due to Israeli shelling last night, which damaged the steam generator and later hit the fuel tanks which set them on fire,” Fathi al-Sheikh Khalil told AFP

No, you just need to vet photos before you distribute them with your (false) commentary.
You are passing off the photo of a Kurdish girl from 2009 as a current photo of a child in Palestine.

Stuff like that just hurts real efforts to humanize the Palestinians. Something that is really important.
So please look at your sources.

Please forgive my humanity.

You are forgiven. That does not explain or excuse dishonesty or intentionally misleading posts.

The point here is not "win any way you can - even through lies." The point is to honor the truth. Argue honestly if you seek credibility here.

There is no dishonesty or intentionally misleading people in any of my posts. I told the pp who pointed that that picture was from Turkey that I didn't know as its been forwarded to me. If this is the only thing you can rehash over and after a dozen pages, be my guest. This is my last post on the issue, children are dying as we speak, I choose to focus my energy on other things.
Anonymous wrote:People, can we please get back to the original question? Was Mary the biological mother of Jesus or just a surrogate? I'd like to add the question: whose DNA diand d Jesus share?

Start a new thread about Islam and end times if you want to discuss that.

I apologize. To go back to your question, from an Islamic perspective, we were told that the likeness of Jesus is that of Adam , the first man and prophet:

"Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah regarding Allah's ability, since He created him without a father,is the likeness of Adam, for Allah created Adam without a father or a mother. Rather,
Allah said, He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!'' and he was.)"

From this, I gather that Mary was the biological mother because, God doesn't need a surrogate as in the creation of Adam, He didn't use one, nor did He use one for the creation of Eve, so He could've created Jesus the same way but chose to give him a mother. That's an interesting question though, I never thought about it. Would like to hear the christian perspective on this.

When are moderate Muslims going to step up and say enough is enough? 13 years after 9/11 and nothing has changed for the Muslim people - they are still fighting and celebrating/encouraging the killing of innocents. When will Muslims join the civilized world, rather than trying to create a 6th century caliphate?

I am against the term Moderate Muslim. It somehow implies that Muslims can only be good if they do not adhere completely to their faith but do so in a moderate way. It implies that Orthodox Islam is violent and doesn't have its place in western society and somehow, an Orthodox Muslim by definition is an extremist, terrorist or what not. The irony is by definition Islam is moderate, the very tenants of our religion tell us that we have to always choose the middle ground, and we can't be extreme. So the essence of Islam and definition of Muslim in itself means to be moderate which makes the term moderate Muslim redundant..

Having said that, there are radical Muslims and extremists who use religion to convert the masses to their own agenda. The majority of Muslims are against them, but do you think FoxNews will have us on air saying that? I have seen thousands of Muslims speak against them, march at 9-11 but didn't get any air time. We do not control the media and who they choose to show on tv. But they would rather show someone like Ossama than Muslima even though more than 90% of Muslims might be like Muslima
Where are you located ? Have you checked the program at Dar al hijra in Falls Church?
I would love to see Mesho go spend 3 days in Gaza, then he can comment back.
is there a rehab?

We believe that since the beginning of time, there was only one religion and all prophets were sent with the one and same message. Abraham peace be upon him, is actually the one who called us Muslims according to the Quran. In the language of the Holy Quran, prophets are called Muslims, so were their followers:

Abraham was not a Jew nor yet a Christian; but he followed the Primordial Religion and hence was a Muslim, and he took not gods with Allah (HQ:3:67).

It is the faith of your father Abraham. It is He Who has named you Muslims, both before and in this (Revelation) (HQ: 22: 78).

Jesus' disciples are recorded in the Holy Qur'an as called themselves Muslims, when Jesus said, "Who will support me in the Message of Allah,?" "We are supporting Allah's message with you, we believe in Allah, and do thou bear witness that we are Muslims", said the disciples" (HQ: 3:52).

And behold! I inspired the Disciples to have faith in Me and Mine Messenger; they said, `We have faith, and do thou bear witness that we bow to Allah as Muslims'" (HQ:5:111).

So yes, all the believers who are going to be alive at that time will follow Jesus's teaching and his teaching will be Islam, so yes, they will be Muslims if they believe....

and if they don't believe?

The prophet saw said : “God will send the Messiah, son of Mary, who will descend at the white minaret on the eastern side of Damascus wearing two garments, lightly dyed with saffron, his hands resting on the wings of two Angels. When he lowers his head, beads of perspiration will fall from it, and when he raises it up, beads like pearls will scatter from it. Every non-believer who smells him will die, and his breath will reach as far as he is able to see.”

So , according to the islamic tradition, everybody who will be left on earth when Jesus peace be upon him will rule the world will be believers. They will all live peacefully under his guidance, religious sects will all disappear, wars are going to disappear. His reign will be marked by mutual respect, peace and prosperity among the people.

and the "nonbelievers" who die -- are they any remaining non-muslims, e.g., atheists, buddhists, Christians who don't accept that Jesus isn't coming to perpetuate Christianity? When you say all religious sects disappear, do you mean Jesus won't be Christian any more?

As i said earlier, we don't believe Jesus is Christian, we believe that all prophets are Muslims. The tradition doesn't go in details about what happens to buddhists, atheists, it just says "Non-beleivers". I don't know if there will be Christians who won't accept him, there isn't anything in the tradition about that. My guess is, when they will see him in person, it would be pretty convincing, right? But, who knows, God Knows best!

Not a hard choice at all - Israel all the way.

Neither, one takes your land and blows you up, the other blows you up.

When Umar, the 2nd caliph of Islam conquered Jerusalem, this was his treaty detailing the rights and privileges regarding the conquered people:

In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate. This is the assurance of safety which the servant of God, Umar, the Commander of the Faithful, has given to the people of Jerusalem. He has given them an assurance of safety for themselves for their property, their churches, their crosses, the sick and healthy of the city and for all the rituals which belong to their religion. Their churches will not be inhabited by Muslims and will not be destroyed. Neither they, nor the land on which they stand, nor their cross, nor their property will be damaged. They will not be forcibly converted. No Jew will live with them in Jerusalem

The people of Jerusalem must pay the taxes like the people of other cities and must expel the Byzantines and the robbers. Those of the people of Jerusalem who want to leave with the Byzantines, take their property and abandon their churches and crosses will be safe until they reach their place of refuge. The villagers may remain in the city if they wish but must pay taxes like the citizens. Those who wish may go with the Byzantines and those who wish may return to their families. Nothing is to be taken from them before their harvest is reaped.

If they pay their taxes according to their obligations, then the conditions laid out in this letter are under the covenant of God, are the responsibility of His Prophet, of the caliphs and of the faithful.

- Quoted in The Great Arab Conquests, from Tarikh Tabari

History notes that before the Muslim conquest of Jerusalem, the Jews were not allowed to live inside the city. Although Jews were eventually allowed to come to Jerusalem for worship, the Christian ruler had requested that the Jews were not to be allowed to live in Jerusalem. Under the surrender terms, Caliph Umar accepted that request. However, later the Muslims relaxed the rules and the Jews were also allowed to enter the city and settle with the rest of the population.

How did the jews get to come back to live in Jerusalem?

So every Muslim who came was in town or valley, and there came with them a group of Jews. Then he ['Umar] ordered them to sweep the holy place [the Temple site] and to cleanse it. 'Umar himself oversaw them at all times, and each time something was uncovered, he would ask the Jewish elders about the Rock, which was the Foundation Stone. Finally, one of their scholars indicated the precise boundaries of the place, as a result of which, it was uncovered. He commanded that walls be built around the holy site and that a dome be constructed over the Foundation Stone, and that it should be gilded.

After this, the Jews sent word to all the rest of the Jews in Palestine to inform them of the agreement that 'Umar had made with them. The letter was sent back to them asking what would be the number of people who would be allowed to move to Jerusalem. So they came into 'Umar's presence and asked him, "How many people from the Jewish community will the Commander of the Faithful order to move to this city?" "What will your enemies [the Christians] say?" "Speak to them, and after that, I shall have the final word that will put an end to the dispute between you."

Then the Christian Patriarch and his entourage appeared, and 'Umar said to them, "I have made an agreement with the Jews concerning all. . . . Let there come here that number which you yourselves indicate." The Patriarch responded, "Let the number of those who come with their families and their children be fifty households." The Jews replied to this, "We shall not be less than two hundred households." They kept haggling over this until 'Umar commanded that there be seventy households -- to which they agreed.

Then 'Umar said, "Where would you wish to live in the city?" "In the southern part," they replied. And that it is now the Market of the Jews. The aim of their request was to be near the Temple Mount and its gates, and likewise to be near the water of Silwan for ritual bathing. The Commander of the Faithful granted this to them.

Then seventy families moved from Tiberias and the area around it with their wives and children. They filled up the quarter with buildings the remains of which lasted for many generations.
It doesn't make me uncomfortable per se, but it makes me pause. I always find it weird, especially when it is to say something negative about the person

The mob also incites directly against Ahmed Tibi and Haneen Zoabi, two prominent Palestinian citizens of Israel who are members of the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.

The words of the song:

Tibi – Ahmed Tibi
I wanted you to know
The next kid to be hurt will be your kid
I hate Tibi
I hate Tibi the terrorist.
Tibi – is dead!
Tibi – is dead!
Tibi – is dead!

Tibi is a terrorist.
Tibi is a terrorist.
Tibi is a terrorist.

Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé
In Gaza there’s no studying
No children are left there,
Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé,

[Three lines, not entirely clear]

Who is getting nervous, I hear?
Zoabi, this here is the Land of Israel
This here is the Land of Israel, Zoabi
This here is the Land of the Jews
I hate you, I do, Zoabi
I hate all the Arabs.
Oh-oh-oh-oh
Gaza is a graveyard
Gaza is a graveyard
Gaza is a graveyard
Gaza is a graveyard

To be honest, I just feel sad for them. Something must have happened in their life that was so awful that they lost a part of their humanity. I wish they could meet Palestinian children and maybe spend a day or 2 with them, who knows, that might change their outlook on life. Sometimes, all you need is a little bit of love to change hate.
