I would like to an example of a living room/dining room combo with two separate rugs. Trying to decide if we should get a sisal for dining table or try to coordinate another Oushak like living room.

Would also love to see blue dining room antique chairs.

It's hard to find photos...you might want to look at builder model homes, as those tend to have open plans. I don't see many open plans evident in magazines.

I’m looking for inspiration to update window treatments in my two story living room. Currently have really heavy silk-ish drapes with chunky hardware left behind by previous owner. Any ideas or images to share? Thank you!

Oh, those two story windows! Maybe just changing to minimal hardware would be a first step?

I can't find a picture of the hardware used here, but it's a pretty room!

This is probably going to turn a lot of people off, but you could just ignore the 2nd story windows (if there are separate windows).
Anonymous wrote:Hi All. Hi Eye Candy OP!

Okay, I have a dilemma creating a work from home space in my huge bedroom. I’ve tried to recreate the hotel look since most hotel rooms have a desk and sitting area somewhere in the space. I want to completely revamp my room to fit my current needs. Again my room is large so I have enough space for an office set up and sitting area. I want the space to feel luxurious.

I am open to color and love velvet. Any ideas?

A home office with color...maybe some texture.

Not knowing whether we are going traditional or modern, I'll share a few ideas...

Few people like vessel sinks, but these are interesting.

The company is called Superfront...I think they are somehow making panels for ikea vanities?
Anonymous wrote:hello Eye Candy, a request: I have a galley kitchen with a black tile floor, which I think I want to keep. Currently have white walls and cabinets and butcherblock countertop. Right now I'm just thinking about adding color, maybe by painting the lower cabinets. Would love to see black floors with colored cabinets. I love blue in kitchens, so blue cabinets would be nice, but other colors for inspirataion would be great too. Thank you!

I'm sorry I never saw this request! Let's see what we can find with black floors...

You could look for art, a mirror, or a decorative object. Fabric or wallpaper works, too. I honestly think keeping it simple and having nothing is fine, especially if you have other items around the room.

Nothing.

I personally think the art here isn't really necessary.

I have these and I like them a lot! I like that they are a "normal" size...a lot of drinkwear is huge these days. You can get bees and fleur-de-lis.

The ones that look like this have been great. I've had them for 15 years (maybe more):

The ones that look like the glass on the left of this picture have not stood up as well. The rims are more delicate.
EyeCandy OP - any mixed countertop kitchens with white cabinets, one counter butcher block, the other stone??

Hello, hello! I have a few examples of kitchens with mixed counters. I'm not sure of your style (modern, traditional, etc), so I hope there's something here that you find inspirational!

That's A LOT of shelving! It's not for me, but I think it works when there's a mix of open and closed storage. I like when the stuff on the shelves is simple either in number of in color.

Anonymous wrote:OMG, I was obsessed with that blue entryway a few years back. I think it was in Southern Living? Thanks for reminding me of it!

OP, can I beg of you to provide some inspiration pics or designers who have successfully refreshed 1990s era McMansions / double height living rooms and entryways?
Thank you so much for the mental vacation your posts have provided!

I did a post a while back about double-height entrances and my general feeling was that adding millwork/trim is a way to make them feel nicer. If there are round columns, I think taking them out or making them square (if they are needed for support) can help. Updating the light fixture is probably a good idea, too.

I also think there's inspiration if you look up builders/designers and real estate in areas where big homes are still common.

You could also remove a lot of the frosting and go for a cleaner look...

What styles are you hoping to see? I haven't followed the thread, I'm sorry!

What you'd see in an American home that was decorated as "Tuscan" is pretty different from what you'd see is Tuscany. Real estate listings are always helpful in taking a peek inside high end homes. Case in point, here's the kitchen in a $12 million Euro home in Tuscany. Not much to get excited about. The living spaces and patios are gorgeous, though.

$11 million Euros

Anyway, let me know the styles you want to see and I'll see what I can find. I don't speak Italian, but am good in Spanish and can get by in French. Happy to search out inspiration from other countries.
Kitchens with white appliances...

I couldn't find a picture of this woman's kitchen without her posing in it. Lifestyle bloggers are funny.

The white toe kick is a little off to me, but I like the rest!

Whoa, those ceilings are high.

I'm pretty sure this is Cafe Appliance's test kitchen/influencer hosting space:

images of styled narrow bookshelves in a living room which has a fresh traditional style

I'm not sure how many books you have, but between the images with books and the ones with decorative objects, maybe there is some inspiration here?

Not narrow, but obviously lots of shelving!

Suzanne Kasler's house...not many books.

And if you don't like a lot of stuff, you could just use shelves for books and magazines. I think I remember reading that these are designer Mark Sikes' magazine collection.
Maple, shaker cabinets.

I have to admit that I'm not good at identifying different kinds of wood, so I'm going off of captions and bad, gut instinct.

This isn't maple, but it's such an interesting kitchen that I had to share...
