My in-laws visited us about 3x a year staying 3-4 days each time. After 15 years of marriage I found out he removed the picture hanging above the guest bed every night time for this reason.

+1. Nothing above bed. Bedroom has my grandmother’s framed embroidery, and my kids paintings that they gave us as gifts.

You could look for art, a mirror, or a decorative object. Fabric or wallpaper works, too. I honestly think keeping it simple and having nothing is fine, especially if you have other items around the room.

I personally think the art here isn't really necessary.
