Walls: SW Gray Screen (which can skew blue or gray, depending on light and surroundings)
Wall cabinets: White shaker style
Island cabinets: A stained dark, dark gray
Countertop: Blue Pearl granite
Floors: Chocolate wide-plank hardwoods
Lights/fixtures/handles: bronze

Because the paint and counter have a bluish tinge to it, I'd like to pull a stronger blue-gray into the backsplash. There won't be much of it used as it's a fairly open kitchen without a lot of wall, but lots of windows. Any inspiration to share?

Also curious where people like to shop for tile around here. Preferably Nova.

I looked up blue pearl granite and the pictures I'm seeing show that it has a lot of flecks. Not being a professional designer, I'd probably play it safe with a simple backsplash and I would not do contrasting grout. I found one picture of that granite with white subway and gray grout and it's super busy.

I've heard good things about Mosaic Tile near Merrifield. I don't know NOVA as well as some of the others here, though.
High gloss cabinets...I didn't see direction on the style of cabinet, but a lot of what I'm finding is modern. I'll try to share a mix of styles.

More traditional...

Same here! It's such a pretty space...and the chandelier makes me smile.

It's not for me, but I find it so fun to look at! I like how the trim work is white in the man room, but then switches to matching the cabinet color in the pantry and eating area. Just a small detail that makes things interesting.

Yuck

Feel free to make a request if you would like to see something.

No one is apt to like everything they see in this forum. These are people's homes and we're lucky they allow photographers in so we can get a peek.
Small, but colorful!

Whoa, I usually don't like high gloss...

How did the stylist procure those bananas?

Not my style, but SO interesting if you like bold color

This might be the first lavender kitchen I've ever seen.

I'm thinking about using color in my kitchen. I thought I'd share a few colorful kitchens.

The backsplash isn't my cup of tea and this might be a touch dated, but I think there's interesting use of color and I like how they continue the cabinet color to the door and ceiling in the adjacent area.

The adjacent area:

They also used a cabinet-looking door for the pantry entrance.
Hello, my friends!

I saw a comment that the original Eye Candy thread is too long and unwieldy. Maybe we could have a smaller thread just for kitchen inspiration?

It seems like a lot of us are planning (or daydreaming about) improvements to our kitchens. I have to confess that I'm thinking about it myself after being home for these last few months. Maybe this will flop, but let's give it a try. I'll start with some inspiration for my own kitchen. I'm happy to track down some pictures if you describe the colors or style you want to see!

ETA: If making a request, consider giving a color (or material) and the style that interests you. Keep it simple! If you only want to see ideas for your specific kitchen (find me a kitchen with one window over the sink, a door next to the fridge, and an island with a cook top), you aren't really looking for inspiration, you're looking for a professional designer.
Whoa. I didn't realize people would think the thread was about the picture. It was about the article.

I'm thrilled that younger people seem to be embracing traditional style.

It's just a styled photo, not necessarily how the homeowner has things set up on a daily basis.
I just read an article in the Washington Post about grandmillennial style and wonder what people think of it. I like that we've seen some more traditional prints and furniture pieces coming back - I have to admit that I wasn't a huge fan of the more paired down looks that were popular for a while (the article mentions modern farmhouse, but I also think of the "West Elm" look).

This was the pretty picture at the top of the article.

In a way, I think it's just a traditional look that maybe some younger people are rediscovering...I'm all for it.

I clean the vent that's in the dryer every time.

I clear the flexible vent tube that goes through the wall and outside once per year. Mine is just a few feet long...I never considered calling a professional to clean it. You can unhook it from the machine and get in there with a vacuum hose and duster. I'm sure there are youtube videos about it, too!

People in some countries wear masks every single day on their commutes, right? Women in some countries cover their faces in public every single day, right? Health care workers, tattoo artists, painters, nail techs...all wear masks every day during their working hours. It's a good thing to weak a mask. Let's do it.

If you are having an emotional reaction to wearing a mask, maybe talk to a professional about it because that's not normal. Talk Space might be a good first option.

And maybe buy yourself a few masks you love (like a nice fabric or with a design you like) so you have a positive reaction to putting yours on?
